Cubot R15 Pro Quick Review, Specs/Features & Price

The month of August 2019 saw the Cubot R15 Pro released into the smartphone market. This is one of the few 3G Android smartphones that has a fingerprint sensor. Sure enough, it is a budget mobile device that got me thinking why Cubot designed it. Let’s see how much of the features of this smartphone we can actually fall in love with.

Design and Display of Cubot R15 Pro

R15 Pro is a plastic body designed phone and it is a smartphone that comes with good storage and fingerprint. The screen looks like the usual bar shape and there is also no waterproof technology and dust proof for this smartphone. It is a phone coming with colors of black and green. Dimensions are 157.8 x 77 x 9.1 mm and the weight is 173 grams. Body protection is not supported.

Looking at the display of Cubot R15 Pro, we see that it is 6.26 inches of IPS capacitive touchscreen. As far as I see, the pixels resolution in the display is somewhat high as it stands at 1520 x 720, while the pixel density is 269 PPI, and it comes with a screen processing up to 16 million colors. Furthermore, the screen to body ratio is 80.5 percent.

Camera Features

Cubot R15 Pro has three cameras, and the main lenses are the two found at the rear and they are 16 MP, and 2 MP. These have the capacity to offer good quality images. Other good features can be found on the smartphone camera department, such as single LED flash, HDR, continuous shooting, etc. Still on the camera area, 13 MP is situated at the front for selfies at f/2.2 aperture.

Hardware and Software

This Cubot R15 Pro runs on Android 9.0 Pie that we hope will soon upgrade to Android One. This is fortified with MediaTek Helio A22 (MT6761) chipset 12nm technology and 32-bit architecture. There is also the CPU ARM Cortex A53 4-Core, while the GPU is PowerVR GE8300.

Storage Capacity and Sensors

Also, Cubot R15 Pro is entry level with 3GB of RAM that cannot be expanded but the internal storage of 32GB can be boosted externally with a microSD card that can be slotted in to boost it upwards to 64GB.  The sensors are proximity, light, and accelerometer, and fingerprint.

Network and Connectivity

Surely, the Cubot R15 Pro is 3G Android phone that has capacity for two nano SIM card slots. Take note that there is no 4G Android smartphone. It is also able to handle both 2G and 3G networks. However, connectivity components like Wi-Fi, hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, A-GPS, USB 2.0, audio jack, and other features are present in the device. NFC is clearly absent.

Battery Power

Powering the Cubot R15 Pro is a built-in Li-Po 3000 mAh battery. As we can see, there is definitely no wireless charging available for the device and definitely no fast charging technology, which looks normal to me.  The standby time is up to 180 hours.

Price and Availability

Finally, the price of Cubot R15 Pro smartphone is approximately $104.52. This price is really good and reasonable. The smartphone is fully available and selling from the month of August 2019.
