Final Fantasy 7 Remake – the summons

Final Fantasy 7 Remake- the summons. How to launch calls? Wind, fade into silence and light, give us power! Shiva! One of the most iconic elements of the Final Fantasy series must be the summons and Final Fantasy 7 Remake is no exception. While many were worried, in the way the original game and Remake had been split and that there weren’t going to be many summons, don’t worry! There are several summons you can have in this game, and we have all the details on where to find them and what special abilities they bring into battle!

What are the convocations anyway?

Summoning is a fundamental mechanic for any Final Fantasy game. In Final Fantasy 7 Remake, your summons are related to Red Summon Materia. These Matters give you the opportunity to bring a powerful spirit to fight alongside you. These spirits are so powerful that some can only be brought into the most challenging boss battles, but once summoned, they can reverse the trend in your favor. There are nine summons in total, but not all are available for each player.

How can I use Summon Materia?

Once you get a Summon Materia, it works similarly to any other Materia. Equip him to the character you prefer, and he will be available in battle… almost. The caveat is that larger summons can only be used in boss battles, and each character can only be equipped with one Matter Summoner. To equip your Summon Materia:

  1. Press the Options button to open the main menu.
  2. Press X  to select Material and Equipment.
  3. Select the character you wish to equip.
  4. Press △  to set Materia.
  5. Select the specific Materia slot on the far right.
  6. Select the Matter you want to equip.
  7. Press X  to equip Matter.

Make sure to check out our Materia guide for more information on Materia equipment and where to find all the other Materia in Final Fantasy 7 Remake!

How to use summons in Final Fantasy 7 Remake

  • Chocomog– this summons is a band that Moogle wears over a Chocobo. He makes an attack called Fat Chocobo and will leave with a final attack called Deathblow.
  • ifrit– this summons is able to use fire attacks to set things on fire. Its subject is obtained at the end of chapter 3.
  • Radiant Plume causes fires from below to consume an enemy and others nearby. The Crimson Sub attack causes furious anger to fall on enemies from above and the final attack is Hellfire.
  • Shiva also has the title of Ice Empress. His main attack is Diamond Dust which he uses to freeze enemies in a block of ice.
  • Leviathan uses the magic of water and aquatic attacks to flood his enemies. The Briny Bellow attack will stagger a large number of enemies with a ray of water. Gyre Spume deals with similar damage, and the final attack is Tsunami.
  • Charcoal– This fairy has a lot in common with foxes and rabbits and is available as a bonus DLC content in the 1st class edition of Final Fantasy 7 Remake. His eyes are bright red, and there is a ruby-colored gemstone on his forehead. His final attack is Reflex.
  • Cactuar has tiny limbs and three hair strands on his head. He will attack anyone he considers a threat by shooting a group of needles at them. This is his characteristic move, known as 10,000 needles. Cactuar is a summoning available through the Delux Edition of FF7 Remake.

Chocobo Chick
This Summon is the child of a Chocobo. These are creatures that look like birds because of their yellow feathers but don’t fly. The main tactic of Chocobo Chick is using the head to attack objects. Chocobo’s chick is a pre-order bonus evocation.

How to summon in Final Fantasy 7 Remake?

Summoning in FF7 Remake is as easy as swapping a few MPs every time you want a powerful creature to launch a single attack on your enemies. Instead, the summons in this game work much like in Final Fantasy 12, 13, and 15. Your summoned creature will join you in battle and attack your enemy as a temporary member of the host party.

Before you can use a summon, you must wait for the summon indicator to appear. It may seem completely random when it appears, and even after completing the game, we haven’t completely understood all the triggers to make it appear. Summons are quite powerful, so the game is limited when you can access it and you will usually see the meter appear in difficult circumstances.

Here are the triggers we found that make the summons indicator appear in FF7 Remake:

  • After having stunned an enemy in the Colosseum or Shinra Battle Simulator.
  • Shortly thereafter, the final fight begins in a challenge at the Coliseum or Shinra Battle Simulator.
  • During some stages of boss fights.

What are all the calls that I can get?

As you get your first Summon Materia as part of the story, the rest will have to be earned, and few can only be acquired through DLC. Here are all the Summon Materia and where to find them:
