Galaxy Note 7 launches August 2, Samsung sends out Invites

After series of speculations, rumors and counter rumors, South Korean tech giant Samsung has finally officially confirmed that the Galaxy Note 7 will be launched on August 2.

Samsung has started sending out invitations to the unveiling of the posh flagship device which it dubbed Samsung Galaxy Unpacked. Parts of the message read;

On August 2nd, Samsung Electronics will unveil the Galaxy Note 7

With added functionality of the S Pen and large screen, the Galaxy Note7 is a powerful instrument for achievement and self-expression, and is made for those who want to get the most from their phones – and their lives. Galaxy Note7 will help people do more in work, at home and everywhere in between. We can’t wait to tell you more about it!”

As earlier rumored, Samsung confirmed that it would be skipping the number 6 which the device was suppose to carry and go for number 7. The market leader gave the reason to be that it would enable the Galaxy Note 7 compliment the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge flagships released earlier on, so as to unify their portfolio.

The number difference was as a result of the Galaxy Note coming out almost a year after Samsung first released the Galaxy series devices in 2010. If the Note 7 had been named Note 6, it would have created confusion about the latest device from Samsung, according to the company. Thus, the Galaxy Note 7 will minimize confusion about the latest mobile technology from Samsung and provide full alignment with the Galaxy S smartphones

Samsung also hinted that the device will launch simultaneously in New York, Rio de Janeiro and London, albeit at different time. If you’re interested in watching the live streaming of the New York event then keep a date with www.samsung.com and Samsung Newsroom (news.samsung.com/global)
