Getting a Dollar Visa/Master Debit Card in Nigeria is quite easy. The Diamond Dollar Visa Card is what I now use to make payments online in Nigeria since the new Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) monetary policy that gives the Naira float against the US dollar at the inter-bank market and thereby making it difficult to pay for goods or services.
Having a Dollar Visa/Master Debit Card is now hot cake, as you do not need to convert your Naira to dollar before or when making payments online at those websites like eBay, Amazon, domain and hosting providers, and Google/Facebook ads that charge in US dollars. Dollar Visa/Master Debit Card is the best choice for us that earn in US dollars. 🙂
The Diamond Dollar Visa Card is same as the normal ATM card you see around; no difference. My name is engraved on my dollar card with the card number & expiry date appear at the front of the card while the 3 digit Card Validation Value (CVV2) is printed on the rear of the card, beside the signature panel. Validity of my Dollar Visa Card is 3 years as you can see in the image below:

In this guide, I will show you how to get your Dollar Visa Debit Card from Diamond bank in Nigeria without stress. This post is very helpful to those who have not yet opened a domiciliary account in any bank in Nigeria.
First, let us start with how to open a domiciliary account in Nigeria (Diamond Bank).
How To Open A Domiciliary Account In Nigeria?
- Go to the nearest bank branch and request for a domiciliary account form,
- Fill the (USD) Domiciliary account form,
- Submit with 2 (Two) Referee forms,
- 1 (one) recent passport photograph,
- A recent Utility Bill,
- A copy of your Driver’s License or International Passport and
- Minimum opening balance of $100 (but, $50 for GTBank).
Your account should be set up in next 2 to 3 working days. My account was ready with Diamond bank, Kaduna branch within 2 working days I submitted my form. Once your new domiciliary account is ready, you will receive an SMS or probably a mail from the bank.
How Can I Get Dollar Visa/Master Card in Nigeria?
After the opening of your new domiciliary account, you need to visit the bank again and request for a dollar Visa card form. Since your account is new, there is no need for further account verification. This mean there is no need to go with passport photograph, Utility Bill, or copy of your Driver’s License or International Passport. Just fill the dollar Visa card form and your card should be ready in 4 days time (personal experience with Diamond bank though).
When the card is ready, head straight to the bank branch to retrieve your new dollar debit card. The Diamond card services rep will ask for your bank account name and number, if possible date of birth, home address and other questions just to confirm that the account truly belongs to you.
How To Activate Diamond Bank Dollar Visa Debit Card?
You can activate your Diamond Dollar Visa Debit Card once you get the card in the bank branch, you will be redirected to where to activate your card. I started using mine few hours after activation. You can as well start using it to pay online from Nigeria and anywhere in the world.

How much is the dollar card? Will I be able to spend the 100$ opening balance?
I opened the diamond bank domiciliary account with $100. I’m also about to go request for the ATM card but the question is can I spent that $100 I have on the account online or the money is just for the account opening.
Yes you can
Nice one. I’m having difficulties activating mine. When my card was inserted into the POS, the only thing that showed was “Visa Debit”. I was then directed to call CC and they told me they will get back to me.
Did you experience anything like that?
at what rate do they charge for transactions
Transactions are free of charge
