HOMTOM HT20 PRO – the smartphone that can swim and doesn’t break

HOMTOM HT20 PRO REVIEW

Earlier on here, we subjected the HOMTOM HT20 4G smartphone to critical review and specs analysis. Now, the big brother, the HOMTOM HT20 PRO is up next on the review list.

We saw nice and unique features like the lightweight, the relatively small/thin width, waterproof and dustproof capabilities, fingerprint scanner, amazing rear camera quality and more on the HOMTOM HT20. It would only be appropriate to see what the older and fine-tuned version carries. To see if spec-wise, it is worth calling the big brother or not.

Shall we?

DESIGN

HOMTOM HT20 Pro

Taking on design first, the HOMTOM HT20 PRO is no different from its predecessor. It has the same design, same dimensions and same button positioning, same speaker location as the Homtom HT20. In fact, it would be an utterly herculean task differentiating the Homtom HT20 and HT20 Pro by visual examination only.

The HT20 Pro is available in four different colour variants – Orange, Army Green, Elegant black and Vibrant white.

So, just in case you’re out for a device to take swimming, to the beach, rope climbing or mount climbing, the Homtom HT20 Pro is the device to get. Waterproof, scratch-proof, dust proof, and shatter-proof. It is rock solid!

DISPLAY

The display characteristics of the Homtom HT20 Pro doesn’t make differentiation of the HT20 and HT20 Pro easier either. The HT20 Pro is also sized at 4.7-inch, has the same 720×1280 pixels resolution, 312 pixel per inch display density, scratch-proof Corning Gorilla Glass and equally thick bezels as it’s predecessor.

PROCESSOR, OS & STORAGE

The rugged Homtom HT20 Pro is powered by a MediaTek MT6753 chipset, with 64-bit Octa-core Processor that has a clock speed of 1.3 GHz. It is safe to say that the chipset and processor is actually the major distinguishing feature of the Homtom HT20 and HT20 Pro.

The device has a 3GB RAM to complement the stock Android Marshmallow v6.0 OS. There is also an on-board 32GB storage for your documents. The micro SD card slot allows for storage expansion of up to 64GB. So, perhaps you’re a rock climber, or a swimmer, at the beach or on any adventure, there is enough space for you to keep your pictures and videos.

CAMERA

You remember the Homtom HT20? Do you recall the front and rear camera quality? No? Well, the preceding HT20 had a 8MP – 2MP rear and front camera respectively.

The HT20 Pro sees an improvement in camera quality as it features an improved 13MP camera at the rear and a 5-megapixels camera upfront.

BATTERY

The same 3,500mAh battery that was used on the Homtom HT20 also keeps the HT20 Pro alive. The battery pack is removable and replaceable which is perfect for such a device. This gives adventurers the room to purchase supplementing batteries for their HT20 instead of having to charge their devices each time it goes off; batteries can just easily be swapped.
