How to delete Apps from iPhone

You have decided to delete apps from iPhone perhaps because you have installed too many and your device seems to be cluttered or just for cleaning. In this article, we will talk about just that, how to delete apps from your iPhone, both from the main screen and from the settings.

If you’ve downloaded too many apps on your iPhone, you might want to do some cleaning. It is very easy to delete apps on your iPhone. And with the iPhone, you actually have two ways to do it. If you have a model with a 3D touch, there may be some slight differences, but it’s still very simple. Below are the different techniques on how to uninstall iPhone apps:

How to delete iPhone applications from the home screen

This technique is the easiest and most popular way to erase iPhone apps, and most likely on most iPhone models. Simply follow these steps.

  1. Tap the Home button at the bottom of your iPhone to bring up the home screen.
  2. Find the app you want to delete or uninstall and hold it down gently. It should only take 1-2 seconds for the apps to start shaking.
  3. When you see the apps shake, click on the “x” that appears in the upper left corner.
  4. Select Delete. Or, if you’ve changed your mind, you can also click Cancel.

Note– There are some apps that you can’t delete (like the Clock app). If you don’t want to see non-erasable apps on the screen, you can move them to a folder by gently pressing and holding the icon until the “x” appears, then dragging the app icon onto another app icon until a gray box appears. Drop the app into the box and name the folder whatever you want.

How to delete iPhone apps with 3D Touch

If you’re having trouble uninstalling apps on iPhone by holding them down, it may be due to 3D touch.

The 3D touch feature is a pressure-sensitive feature introduced in iPhones in 2015. It is designed to give users a quick app preview and some shortcut actions without actually having to open the app. This feature can be quite sensitive. So when you tap on an app, you may see the Action menu instead of the “Delete” option.

To fix this, you just need to perform the following steps:

  1. Go to Settings, then to General.
  2. Next, tap on Accessibility and find 3D Touch.
  3. Under 3d Touch Sensitivity, adjust the bar to Medium or Fixed.

Choosing the Fixed setting means that you will have to press harder to open the 3D touch functions. If you set the bar to Light, pressing the lightest will enable the Action menu.

You can also test the settings by pressing on the image at the bottom of the screen or turn off 3D Touch by clicking on the slider at the top of the screen (it is off when off). After adjusting the 3D Touch Sensitivity setting, you can follow the instructions in the first section.

How to delete iPhone apps via settings

If you’re still having trouble uninstalling iPhone apps, you can also delete apps via your phone’s settings by following these steps:

  1. Go to Settings> General> iPhone Storage. This is where you can find all your apps and how much space they are taking up. If you’re running out of space on your iPhone, try deleting your biggest apps (they’re sorted by size, with the biggest ones on top).
  2. Find the apps you want to delete and tap them. You can only delete apps this way one at a time.
  3. After selecting an app, click “Delete App”. This action will completely remove the application, along with all user data associated with it.

If you want to free up space on your iPhone, but don’t want to lose the data stored with it (saved games, login information, etc.) you can also download your own apps. As long as you have updated your phone to iOS 11, you have the option to free up space and temporarily remove the application from running on your device, without losing any of the data. And if you later decide to install the app again, you will be able to recover your user data and settings on that app.

App delete apps from iPhone

You can also find apps designed to delete other apps. Some may even let you do it in bulk and help you manage your apps as well. However, make sure you do your due diligence before downloading any unknown apps.

Read the reviews and do some research. Many apps have bugs or security issues. So study a bit before downloading and installing. You don’t want to install another app that you will end up deleting later.

Important things to note before removing iPhone apps

  • The instructions here are only applicable for an iPhone device running iOS 10 and later. Some options, such as offloading an app, are only available in iOS11, iOS12, and iOS13.
  • There are some built-in apps that you won’t be able to delete from your iPhone. So don’t get too stressed out if none of the above methods work with some apps. And don’t worry, your iPhone isn’t broken. The application might just be a major built-in program that your iPhone can’t do without, so Apple engineers have made it non-erasable.
  • Deleting iPhone apps doesn’t necessarily delete your account. If there is a subscription tied to the app and you want to stop using and paying for the service, you will also need to cancel the subscription. You can check out our article on how to cancel subscriptions on your iPhone for detailed instructions if you haven’t done so before.
  • Before deleting any app, make sure you want the app to disappear before doing so. Most apps cache temporary files, such as cookies and user settings, to make the user experience smoother and hassle-free. However, once you delete or remove the application, you will automatically lose these files.
