How to Fix “Can’t Receive Text Messages” Issue on Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus

The Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus are one of the smartphones loved by many thanks to its high-end specs and features which are just amazing. Even though this device may seem to be perfect, there will come a time when issues will arise on the device.

One common problem is the phone being unable to receive any text message and SMS coming from iPhones. This problem can be fixed by following this guide so you will not have to worry anymore if you are waiting for someone’s important message.

One of the reasons why your Samsung Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9 Plus isn’t able to receive any text message coming from an iOS device or even a non-Apple device like BlackBerry, Android or Windows is because of the text format used is in iMessage form.

This issue usually occurs when you have been using your SIM card on an iPhone or iPad by using its iMessage service and later used that same SIM card on your Samsung Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9 Plus.

If, for example, your iPhone is out of reach, go to the page of Deregister iMessage and then turn it off. Follow the steps below to do that.

  1. Launch an internet browser on your device.
  2. Next, go to the deregister iMessage page.
  3. When you get to the page, scroll down to the bottom of the page and then look for the “No longer have your iPhone” option.
  4. Next, select your region and then type in the phone number in the provided field.
  5. Tap on the “Send Code.” option.
  6. Now, you need to enter the code you received on the phone number you typed in the field name “Enter Confirmation Code.”
  7. Tap on Submit Code.

When you are done following the steps listed above, your SIM will be deregistered from Apple’s service.

In this case, your problem of not receiving and sending text messages using your Samsung Galaxy S9 or S9 Plus has been fixed.

  1. I have also found that messages are still not received after performing the deregistering imessage steps when an iPhone user sends text messages using an old thread. After instructing them to delete the old thread and begin a new one, the messages come through.
