How & Why To Run Portable Version Of Windows

WHY PORTABLE WINDOWS ARE IMPORTANT

In the light of modern discovery, it pains traveling with lots of luggage, especially when flying,  your suitcase can add to the cost of flying, the more you take, the more you regret ever traveling, especially if you will need to work for quite a long time. The truth is, if you persistently work with different computers as part of your carrier, you may often realize that you lack the necessary tools you need and sometimes not been able to change preferences that help your workflow.

You can easily get a relieve by putting Windows on a USB flash drive. By creating a portable copy of windows and by booting to the USB drive, you will have your private and personal computer with your applications, preferences, and passwords all in a device less than a pound small enough to fit in your pocket.

Sadly, the official “ windows to go” features from Microsoft is only for windows enterprise and requires a certified USB flash drive, and this USB flash drive is expensive. We will give you the information in regards to the method around this but have in mind that it is complicated and involves command line work. In addition, you can use portable Virtual-box, but it requires the installation of VM software and an OS to run from.

In case you want an alternative with less overhead,  Rufus and WiNtoUSB free for most situations and easy to use with one catch. With WintoUSB you will be required to pay if you want to install windows 10 1809- that’s the October 2018 update. Have in mind that Rufus doesn’t offer the option to install 1809 at all, alternatively, you can download windows 1803 using the Microsoft Windows and Office ISO Download Tool. Just download and run the program, pick windows 10 and the pick windows 10 1803 option. Of the two, Rufus stands out as the better option since you don’t have to pay for compatibility with both modern UEFI and legacy computer. We are pretty certain that you will want this to work with both and into USB charges for those features.

For the process to work, you are going to need just a few items

  • A USB 3.0 Flash Drive with at least 32 GB of storage—bigger is better! You could use a 2.0 USB drive, but it will be too slow.
