Huawei Honor 5 Play launched, with 5-inch HD, 2GB RAM, Cheap price tag

Huawei seem to be on a releasing spree with the rate at which smartphones get released from its stables of late. The latest is the Huawei Honor 5 Play released today, just hours after the 6.6-inch Honor Note 8 phablet was officially released.

Huawei Honor 5 Play

The Honor 5 Play looks very much like the Honor 4 Play released sonetime in 2014 with 8MP main camera and a 2MP selfie snapper. The Honor 5 Play however looks like an upgraded version of the 4 Play. The device comes with a 5-inch HD display with a narrow frame design. The device is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735P processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in storage.

The Huawei Honor 5 Play crams a moderate 2200mAh battery under the back cover and has an 8MP rear facing camera with dual LED flash. The device also has a not-so-cool 2MP front facing camera with enabling feature of the screen lighting up when selfies is to be taken. The device’s camera also has a self-timer for auto shots.

Other features include 4G VoLTE support, EasyKey one-touch access function and support for entire network, although there is a carrier specific version available as well. The dual-SIM smartphone also features dual standby capability.

Clutching a ridiculously cheap price tag of $91 (599 yuan), the Huawei Honor 5 Play could be termed the cheapest Huawei has released in recent times in the expansive Play series. The device comes in gold, white and black colors and would go on sale from August 2 in China.
