Huawei to launch the Mate 40 series in October as scheduled

Since the American government increased the length of its ban on Huawei for another year and stopped TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company) from supplying the company with chipsets, they have found it difficult to stay out of the news. Since then, we have seen multiple reports with new information on the state of the company and how it is planning to proceed with business. According to a blogger from Weibo, Huawei will unveil the Mate 40 series in October as scheduled despite the company’s current situation. The phone will be powered by a 5nm chip.

Now, Huawei is quite popular for designing the processors powering its smartphones. These processors are, however, manufactured by TSMC. This is because the SIMC (Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation) which is homegrown has limited resources.

This is why the American government curbing the company’s supply of chipsets from TSMC was a huge blow. This sanction, however, will not be enforced until September this year. This means Huawei will need to have the chipsets from TSMC delivered on time as suggested by an earlier report. Moile Chip Expert, a popular blogger on Weibo has confirmed this as well.

According to him, Huawei should be able to get their hands on all the required chipsets by mid-September, as scheduled.

The blogger also added that Huawei will unveil the Mate 40 series in October and by then, the company will have supplies for about 8 million units of the smartphones.

Well, this might be some good news, especially for Huawei consumers. However, uncertainty still hovers around the future of the company. What does the company have planned for beyond 2020?
