iPhone XS VS iPhone XR – Design

On the overall design, the iPhone XR is a little bit different from the iPhone XS. The iPhone XR is built with an aluminum frame along the edges, rather than stainless steel on the iPhone XS. Though the iPhone XR still has a glass on the back which supports wireless charging, however, Apple says that the iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max wireless charging has been upgraded with fast charging output while the iPhone XR still remains 7.5W.

On the body, the iPhone XR is a little bit thicker, and on the back, it has a single camera setup. Apart from this, the iPhone XR has a similar feature with iPhone XS. They both have a notch for the Face ID sensors and a nearly edge-to-edge display. There’s also the usual Lightning connector, speaker grilles, volume switches, and more.

iPhone XS VS iPhone XR – Display

The iPhone XS has a screen size of 5.8-inches while the iPhone XR has a bigger 6.1-inch display.  While the iPhone XS has an OLED display, the iPhone XR uses an LCD as a cost-cutting measure. Despite not being an OLED display, the iPhone XR will provide a quality viewing experience. The iPhone XS has a 3D Touch which Apple now replace with a Haptic Touch on the iPhone XR.

iPhone XS VS iPhone XR – Camera

On the camera, the iPhone XS has a 12-megapixel rear-facing wide-angle camera lens, and an additional 12-megapixel telephoto lens, whereas the iPhone XR has the single lens.
This means you won’t be getting the 2x optical zoom, which is the ability to zoom in on a subject up to 2x without any blurriness.

The iPhone XS support Smart HDR which will bring shadows detail to photos.

The phone promise two and five hours longer battery life per charge cycle, depending on the usage compared to the iPhone XS. This is understandable because the iPhone XR use Liquid Retina display is less power hungry than OLED displays. Both phones are powered by an A12 Bionic chip which is based on iOS. The iPhone XS has 4GB of RAM while the iPhone XR has 3GB of RAM.
