iTel S42 VS Infinix Hot S3 – Specs Comparison. Technology is advancing at a very rapid rate. And in the smartphone world, it’s a case of join the bandwagon or be left out. Chinese company iTel have finally decided to leave their comfort zone and join the bandwagon. They released the iTel S42 which the successor to iTel S32.

The iTel S42 becomes iTel first ever bezel-less smartphone. Also their first 3GB RAM, powered by Snapdragon chipset and runs on Android 8.0 Oreo. Wise move from iTel by releasing this mid-range smartphone. Let’s see how the iTel S42 stack up against Infinix Hot S3. The Infinix Hot S3 is also a mid-range smartphone from Infinix. Which is not doing quite well in the market.

iTel S42 VS Infinix Hot S3 – The Design

Both the iTel S42 and Infinix Hot S3 comes with a plastic back cover and a glass front. The iTel S42 is slightly slimmer with a 8.25mm than the Infinix Hot S3 (8.5mm). The fingerprint sensor is placed at usual back in both device. The rear camera of the Infinix Hot S3 is in a vertical position with the LED flash at the top-left corner. Same as the iTel S42 rear camera and flash.

The iTel brand name is at the bottom of the back of iTel S42. While the Infinix brand name is at the middle just below the fingerprint sensor. Not too many options on the body colors to pick from. The infinix Hot S3 is available in only Sandstone black and Brush gold body colors. While the iTel S42 is available in Black and Champagne body colors. With the black body the most common one.

iTel S42 VS Infinix Hot S3 – The Display

The iTel S42 is iTel first bezel-less smartphone. But it isn’t completely bezel-less. With significant bezels spotted at the top and bottom of the screen. It has just a 75% screen-to-body ratio. The Infinix Hot S3 has bezels at the top and bottom of its screen also. But with a better 81% screen-to-body ratio. Both device comes with the IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen. With the iTel S42 measuring 5.65 inch in size and the Infinix Hot S3 measuring 5.7 inch.

In display resolution, the iTel S42 and Infinix Hot S3 comes with a 720 x 1440 pixels resolution. With the iTel S42 285ppi density better than Infinix Hot S3 274ppi density. Given what other mid-range smartphones are equipped with, the iTel S42 is definitely not far behind.

iTel S42 VS Infinix Hot S3 – The Camera

Infinix Hot S3 is equipped with a 20MP front camera with dual-LED flash. Which is better off than iTel S42 13MP front camera with LED flash. Infinix really made the Hot S3 camera quality one of its standout features. So no surprise to see it beat the iTel S42 here. The iTel S42 features a 13MP rear camera with LED flash. While the Infinix Hot S3 feati a 13MP rear camera with dual-LED flash.

iTel S42 VS Infinix Hot S3 – Hardware and Software

The hardware category is really where iTel and Infinix got it all wrong with these smartphones. The clock speed is too low, that you have to wonder if they can actually multitask. The iTel S42 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chipset with Quad-core 1.4GHz processor. While the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset with Octa-core 1.4 GHz processor powers the Infinix Hot S3.

They both run on Android 8.0 Oreo. While Infinix Hot S3 is incorporated with Infinix’s own XOS 3.0. The iTel S42 comes with a 3GB RAM and 16GB ROM. While a 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM is available on the Infinix Hot S3.

iTel S42 VS Infinix Hot S3 – The Battery

If you need a smartphone with strong battery capacity, the Infinix Hot S3 is right for you. It features an impressive non-removable Li-lon 4,000 mAh battery. While the iTel S42 is backed by a non-removable Li-Po 3,000 mAh battery capacity.

iTel S42 VS Infinix Hot S3 – The Price

The iTel S42 is sold at around $130 (N45,500). And the Infinix Hot S3 is sold at about $177 (N62,000). With better battery capacity, internal storage, hardware and camera, the Infinix Hot S3 is easily my choice in these comparison.
