Kyocera has launched a new budget smartphone in the US which boasts of being a compact water resistant smartphone that doesn’t actually tear a hole in your pocket. The device adopts the moniker Kyocera Hydro shore and fits into the large Kyocera Hydro series of mobile phones.
The device launches with a list of somewhat non-spectacular features asides the IP57 certification it carries. What this means is that the Hydro Shore is truly a hydro-friendly device and can hold its own against dust and water immersion for up to 30 minutes in up to a water depth of 1 metre. That’s sure one spectacular spec for a budget device.
In other specs, the phone sports a 5MP rear camera with LED flash, 2MP front facing selfie camera and runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop from the factory. The Hydro Shore is powered by a 1.1GHz Quad-core Snapdragon 210 chipset from Qualcomm.
The Kyocera Hydro Shore sports a cool 5-inch QHD IPS display which supports the smooth operation of the phone with wet hands or when the display is wet. The phone also crams only 1GB of RAM and 8GB of built-in storage memory which is expandable up to 64GB through a microSD card. That means the device has a microSD slot.
Kyocera boasts this one will offer long lasting operating time with the non-removable 2150mAh Li-Ion battery it crams under its hood. This will be achieved with the energy saving features like Eco Mode and MaxiMZR, which is touted to automatically extend performance by reducing the power consumption of noncritical functions. We must not fail to mention that the Hydro Shore is a single SIM device and has lots of connectivity features.

The Kyocera Hydro Shore is available for purchase on Walmart in US only on AT&T’s GoPhone service. The smartphone carries a price tag of $80.
