Microsoft Corp released two models of Xbox to satisfy the shift in customer demands and to help consumers cope with the high demands necessitated by the on-going pandemic. It has been seven years since the release of the previous edition. The new release will be fit for the needs of new consumers made mandatory during COVID-19 era.
The new products are Xbox series X and the Xbox Series S. The former is said to be the most powerful console globally at this time and it will sell for about $500, while the Series S goes for about $300. Although the latter has brought up negative comments from analysts for being so low scale, it appears bot products have come to stay. The Series S edition comes with less storage capacity, lacks advanced graphics for some titles, and has cutbacks in some other areas.
This new product will arrive with Sony’s PlayStation 5, which also launches this week. PS5 is believed to be the most advanced console because it comes with a larger fan base and more exclusive titles during its launch. This year’s Microsoft release is unique, for the company is launching its gaming console on a worldwide scale on the day. The company reports that there are orders now that surpass any in previous sales. These preorders come from various sections of the markets.
As the initial preorder sold out quickly, there will be new shipping available at the formal launch of the new console. The preorders had some issues when Chinese manufacturing plants shut down due to the coronavirus. However, that issue has been dealt with and the plants are operating normally again.
The downside to it is that Xbox appears to lack killer launch titles. For example, its latest “Halo” game, which is found in the flagship series is restrained due to events caused by the pandemic. Though Microsoft development partners are affected worldwide, the company assures consumers of better satisfaction.
