Nokia 5.1 has been introduced by HMD Global, the 5.1 is the advanced version of the Nokia 5 smartphone that was released last year by the company. The new device was released alongside the Nokia 2.1 and 3.1 yesterday.
The Nokia 5.1 comes with a beautiful aluminium alloy back, it houses the Helio P18 with octa-core processor. There’s a 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant, 16MP rear camera and a fingerprint scanner. Lets find out more.
Design
The smartphone sports an anodized Aluminium 6000 series body, this brings out the beauty in this mid-range device. The vertical foundation at the top middle has been expanded further but there’s no second shooter in sight.
The foundation houses the rear camera and dual-LED flash which are far apart from eachother. The fingerprint scanner comes underneath before the Nokia logo. It measures 8.2 mm in thickness and available in Copper, Tempered Blue and Black colors.
Display
The screen on the Nokia 5.1 is absolutely stunning, it dishes out an 18:9 aspect ratio even though the top and bottom bezel are somewhat thick and huge for a ‘bezel-less’ device. The bottom bezel doesn’t sport the physical home button and navigation buttons on its predecessor.
The 5.5-inch FHD+ IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen is absolutely breathtaking. The screen boasts of 1080 x 2160 pixels in resolution and 439 pixel per inch density. It stretches up to 73.1% screen-to-body ratio with a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top.
Hardware and Software
Under the hood, is the MediaTek Helio P18 MT6755S chip with Octa-Core processor and 64-bit CPU architecture. The 8-Cores of processor here runs at a blazing speed of 2.0GHz with 14nm process technology. The graphics processor on the device is still unspecified at the moment, since the chip is a new one.
There are two versions in terms of storage and RAM, there’s a standard version with 3GB RAM and a 32GB storage space. While the cheaper variant comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage space. Both storage space are upgradeable up to 256GB using a memory card. The Nokia 5.1 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo and will receive Android P.
Camera
The 16MP rear shooter has f/2.0 aperture and captures stunning photographs. There are features to help enhance your photographs like phase detection autofocus, dual-LED dual-tone flash, touch focus, face detection, HDR, panorama and the rest. Videos of 1080p can be shot @30fps, while the 8MP selfie camera has f/2.0 aperture and 84.6° lens as well.
Battery
Powering the Nokia 5.1 is a 2970mAh non-removable Li-Ion battery with fast charging technology. With the fast charging feature, charging the battery from 0% to 100% shouldn’t take up to 1.9 hours.
