OnePlus 6T Witnesses Massive Sales Growth, Looks to Future with Confidence

OnePlus is no longer a startup, and the company is ready to flex its muscles. Of course, it is doing so provided we look at latest reports about earnings coming out from the company. The fact that the company has seen massive growth over the past five years is clear.

At this period, one thing is clear as well; with the assistance of its first US carrier launch, the company is seeing a huge sales growth, as the OnePlus CEO outlines recently.

In an interview with PCMag, CEO Pete Lau explained several topics that bothered on partnership, 5G networks, TV, security, and also ideas about smaller phones. One of the main things he dwelled on is the success story of OnePlus 6T, which has seen a 249 percent boost in sales at the US location.

That sales growth is a massive one when compared to the phone’s predecessor. Basically, this massive success story is due to the T-Mobile partnership. It was also said that OnePlus 6 was a success on its own level, having sold 1 million units in about 22 days in the early parts of 2018.

The CEO commended the fact that the OnePlus 6T is still being widely accepted by fans and sales are growing. He sees that as a positive even though the company can’t satisfy everyone, seeing that the idea of eliminating the headphone jack was not a palatable one.

Also, he hinted that OnePlus may consider building smaller smartphones as way to solve the battery problem. According to the CEO, people are asking for smaller phones and it is the duty of OnePlus to supply those. Over the years, he noted, the technology of phone batteries has not changed much.

He alluded to this because he believes that smaller devices find it easy to survive on reasonable battery life. “Personally, I don’t quite see the problem here,” he says. “Other smaller devices such as Google’s 5.5-inch Pixel 3 have far smaller footprint, compared to the OnePlus 6T but still manages fine battery life. Hopefully, OnePlus can get over whatever hurdles are holding it back with a smaller device, He emphasized.

About 5G devices, he said that OnePlus will strive to work with partners over that too. Top on the agenda are T-Mobile or Sprint.
