Oukitel K8 VS Oukitel K7 – battery-focused smartphones from Oukitel

Oukitel K8 VS Oukitel K7 – battery-focused smartphones from Oukitel. Oukitel is a Chinese OEM company. The company isn’t the most popular of brands in the smartphone world. But gradually they’re building a name for themselves. The K-series line of their smartphones focuses on battery and durability.

They recently released the new Oukitel K8, which is a successor to the Oukitel K7. Both smartphones feature a huge battery capacity that can last a whole day on heavy usage. But aside from their battery qualities, they also feature other good specs. Let’s compare the new Oukitel K8 with the Oukitel K7.

Oukitel K8 VS Oukitel K7 – The Design

It seems the company is ditching the rugged design featured on the Oukitel K7. The Oukitel K7 features a front glass with magnesium alloy unibody. There’s also leather design at the back. The dual rear camera, LED flash and fingerprint sensor are mounted on a foundation at the top center. Meanwhile, the Ooukitel K8 features a front glass, plastic back, and metal frame. It’s dual rear camera is aligned at the top center in a vertical direction. And below it, is the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The Oukitel K7 is available in two body colors; Black and Gold. While the Oukitel K8 comes in only a Black body color. Color varieties help in a smartphone and it would have been great if the Oukitel K8 features colors such as Blue, Red, and Gold. Overall, the Oukitel K8 looks sleek and well finished. The Oukitel K7 looks too rugged to be attractive in my opinion.

Oukitel K8 VS Oukitel K7 – The Display

The display department didn’t see an upgrade of such as the Oukitel K8 comes with the same specs as the Oukitel K7. Both smartphones feature a 6.0 inch FHD+ IPS LCD panel with an 18:9 aspect ratio display. The display features a 1080 x 2160 pixels resolution and 402 pixels per inch density. The Oukitel K7 has a 2.5D glass protecting its screen. While the screen of Oukitel K8 is manufactured by AU Optronics and features scratch resistant.

Oukitel K8 VS Oukitel K7 – The Camera

It’s looking like the Oukitel K8 is a downgrade of the Oukitel K7 based on the specs we’re seeing so far. The dual rear camera set-up on the Oukitel K7 features a 16MP primary sensor and a 5MP secondary sensor. Whereas, the dual rear camera on the Oukitel K8 features a 13MP primary sensor and a 2MP secondary sensor. Moving to the front-facing camera, the Oukitel K7 features an 8MP camera. Whereas, the Oukitel K8 features a 5MP camera. The Oukitel K8 does support Face ID, unlike the Oukitel K7.

Oukitel K8 VS Oukitel K7 – Hardware and Software

Powering both Oukitel smartphones is MediaTek MT6750T chipset, ARM Mali-T860 MP2 graphics processing unit with an 8-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz.

Nothing also changes in their software. They both run on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with 4GB memory and 64GB internal storage.

Oukitel K8 VS Oukitel K7 – The Battery

The Oukitel K7 packs a huge non-removable Li-Po 10000 mAh battery. Whereas, the Oukitel K8 packs a non-removable Li-Po 5000 mAh battery. Both smartphones from Oukitel features fast battery charging. And you shouldn’t have a hard time charging their big battery capacity.

Oukitel K8 VS Oukitel K7 – The Price

The Oukitel K7 is sold for around $295 (€251). Whereas, the Oukitel K8 is available at around $198 (€166). I think the Oukitel K8 should have been named something like “Oukitel K7i”. A name that would show it’s actually a stripped version of the Oukitel K7. The K8 naming made it look like it’s a successor to the Oukitel K7, which it honestly isn’t.
