(PS5) Questionnaire impresses with super low price for the console

No one yet knows what the final price of Sony’s two new generation consoles, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 ‘Digital Edition’, is. In fact, I have already said here several times that even Sony itself is not sure what price to choose for the new generation, in order to escape the attacks of rival Microsoft… of course, includes traditional information leaks.

After all, it is expected that the next generation will have a big bet from Microsoft in the form of two Xbox, one ‘Premium’ (Xbox Series X), and another ‘Budget’ (Xbox Series S). Budget how? Some point to an Xbox Series S costing 200 ~ 250 €! Which may well be a masterstroke by Microsoft.

Having said all that, it seems that Nielsen – a market research company well recognized in the industry – has just launched a questionnaire about PS5, where it puts the price in a super-low range. Of course, the company says the price is completely random, but it raises a question… Why a random price on such an important issue? Doesn’t it make sense to be at least indicative? Otherwise, what is the purpose of doing the questionnaire?

So, while all of this is interesting, don’t get excited already! The source of the questionnaire is a little strange, since all of this was posted on the PlayStation 5 sub-reddit, but was promptly removed by the moderators. Nobody really knows why…

However, Nielsen mentions:

“As mentioned in the description, the price of this new product (PS5) has not yet been determined. So, for this questionnaire, we will put a random price. So take these prices into account, PlayStation 5- £ 349 and PlayStation 5 Digital Edition- £ 259, for the following issues. ”

PlayStation 5 at £ 349 (€ 387) and PlayStation 5 Digital Edition- £ 259 (€ 276) are really curious prices, especially the price of the digital version of the console. In case you didn’t know, Sony has said several times that it wants to keep the price low, something that would be positive for everyone so that the launch went smoothly. (Especially now in COVID times).

But it is too low a price when all the rumors and analysts point to 449 ~ 499 €. Or not?
