Samsung Galaxy On7 – a Premium Mid-Range Device From Samsung

The newly announced Samsung Galaxy On7 is the latest addition to Samsung line of Galaxies. Galaxy On7 seems to be a “premium” mid-range device set at an affordable price.

The Galaxy On7 is actually an upgrade to Galaxy On5 which should be released for China & Indian market when launched this year. The company has already mentioned some details of the Galaxy On7, which include a 5.5-inch screen display with a resolution of 720×1280. It runs Android 5.1 powered by 1.3GHz quad-core processor alongside 1.5 GB RAM and 13 megapixel rear camera.

Display

Samsung Galaxy On7 comes with a 5.5″ TFT display screen with HD resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. Its HD resolution has a pixel density of 267 ppi. The display is crystal clear and the colors come popping right out of the screen.

Body design

It features a slim design pretty compact at 142.3 x 72.1 x 8.5mm and weighs 149 grams, the phone looks well designed. The handset is expected to go on sale in Black and Gold-colored metal frame that gives it a premium look. The edges look slightly curved.

Performance

The performance of the On7 does not match that of On5, it definitely beats this entry level phone (Galaxy On5). Under the hood, the Galaxy On7 sports a 1.3GHz quad-core processor. There’s an Exynos 3475 chipset doing all the dirty work and as expected, this device is pretty fast. It comes with a RAM of just 1.5GB which is considered manageable to work with, there’s an Adreno-405 GPU doing all the graphics work.

Camera and Storage

On the rear of Samsung Galaxy On7 is provided a robust 13-megapixel shooter lens with supports for Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama, HDR. The rear camera is accompanied by a LED flash and supports full-HD video recording. This camera can be used to record stunning 4K videos at 30 frames per second.

A 5-megapixel front-facing camera is also sported on the device, which comes with 8 GB of internal storage. There is also a microSD card slot for memory expansion, up to 128GB.

Operating System

Samsung Galaxy On7 runs Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) operating system. It is not clear for now if the OS will be upgradeable to the latest Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). Anyway, we do believe it should be upgradeable to the latest Android version anytime soon.

Battery & Others

The Galaxy On7 packs a removable battery Li-Ion battery with a capacity of 3000mAh. That’s a whole lot to play with and with regular use, it should last one through the whole day and partially through the next.

The Samsung Galaxy On7 like the Galaxy On5 comes with a lifetime subscription of Mix Radio app. Connectivity options include Bluetooth, GPS, Glonass, Micro-USB, 3G, GPRS/ EDGE, and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. The handset is expected to go on sale in Black and Gold colors that gives it a premium look. It packs accelerometer and proximity sensor.

Availability & price

We have no specific price of the Samsung Galaxy On7 yet, but is expected to range between $200 – $300, depending on location. When available, you can buy it at leading online stores in the country. Samsung Galaxy On7 price in Nigeria is expected to range from NGN40,000 – NGN50,000 depending on your location in the country.
