Sharp Aquos S3 High Edition has been unveiled by Sharp, this is coming after the Aquos S3 was released three months ago, we also saw the Aquos S3 Mini some weeks before that. The High Edition comes with improved specs, and more powerful internals.
The chipset is now the Snapdragon 660 with an octa-core processor, there’s 8GB of RAM, and support for Qi wireless charging. It sports a FHD+ bezel-less display with the trending notch on top and a bottom chin. Of course the selfie camera and dual camera at the rear are powered by AI.
Design
The Aquos S3 High Edition spots an aluminium alloy frame and looks quite identical to its little sibling. It has a glass back and supports wireless charging, there’s a fingerprint scanner as well at the rear.
The dual camera are vertical at the top left corner, giving the device a sleek vibe. Even though it looks bulky in photos it’s quite slim, measuring just 8mm in thickness. It weighs just 167.4g overall, supports dual Nano SIMs and available in Black and Gold colors.
Display
Sharp is known for partially starting the bezel-less trend, the company also jumped on the notch hype a couple of months ago as well. The Sharp Aquos S3 High Edition has a notch and a thick bottom chin as well.
The device is built around a 6-inch IGZO IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, of course that will reduce when you hide the notch. It has a resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels with 402 pixel per inch density as well. Impressively, it stretches up to 84.5% screen-to-body ratio.
Hardware and Software
It houses a much powerful chipset, the Snapdragon 660 from Qualcomm which was built with 14nm process technology and 64-bit CPU architecture. The 8-Cores of processor clocks at a fast speed of 2.2GHz, while the Adreno 512 graphics processor handles graphics.
With 8GB of RAM space available, you’re ready to multitask through all your favourite apps and games. You can also store up files in the 64GB space or upgrade up to 256GB using a memory card. The Sharp Aquos S3 High Edition runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.
Camera
The 12MP + 13MP combination at the rear will work together for some of the best photographs on mobile. The 12MP shooter has f/1.8 aperture, 1/2.55″ sensor size, 1.4µm pixel sixe and Dual Pixel PDAF, while the second 13MP telephoto focuses on the background. Both cameras has AI capabilities with phase detection autofocus, 2x optical zoom, dual-LED (dual tone) flash, touch focus, face detection, HDR and panorama. The AI-powered 16MP selfie camera has f/2.0 aperture as well.
Battery
Powering the Sharp Aquos S3 High Edition is a 3200mAh non-removable Li-Ion battery with fast and wireless charging technology. With the fast charging feature, charging the battery from 0% to 100% shouldn’t take up to 1.8 hours.
