Laptop Review – Acer Aspire E 15 (E5-576G-5762)

Do you need a notebook with a 1080p display, a discrete graphics processor, a DVD-RW drive, 8GB RAM, an 8th gen Intel CPU, and an SSD? How about getting this laptop for less than $600? Well, you have an answer in the Acer Aspire E 15. This laptop is a combination of all the aforementioned, and even more.

Design

The Acer Aspire E 15 is by no means a small laptop – weighing more than 5 pounds, and measuring 1.19-inches thick. Mostly plastic, this notebook does not look premium but is sturdy enough to withstand traveling stress.

There’s a touch of metal pattern on the lid and around the touchpad for some elegance. While the internals of the Aspire E 15 is interesting, the chassis tells a quite different story. The edges are a bit sharp with subtle chamfers.

Display

While the majority of notebooks come with a 1366 x 768 resolution, the Aspire E 15 does well with its Full HD display. The screen is also bright enough with good contrast making viewing a pleasant experience on this laptop.

Keyboard and Touchpad

The keyboard on the Aspire E 15 is a standard keyboard with an extra numeric keypad. The keyboard is also backlit and is comfortable with enough travel.

The touchpad is no different with its slick surface and pin-point accuracy. It is large enough and responds well to touch.

Performance

With the 8th generation processor on this device and a RAM of 8GB (upgradable to 16GB), the Aspire E 15 performs really well for a mid-range device. When you add these with the dedicated Nvidia GeForce MX150, and an SSD this makes operating the Aspire E 15 a pretty fluid.

The internal storage is a not-so-fast 256GB SATA SSD that performs far better than the common HDDs. The Aspire E 15 comes with Windows 10 OS that offers great software experience for users.

Audio production on this notebook is on the average even with the dual stereo speakers. Although the speakers are loud enough, the poor sound quality becomes evident at high volumes.

Connectivity

For connectivity, you get two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0 port, one USB type C port (1st Generation), an HDMI port, an audio jack, and surprisingly a VGA port. Bluetooth and WiFi are also there for wireless connections.

Battery Life

To keep things running on the Aspire E 15, you get a 62 Whr battery that delivers up to 12 hours of screen on time. While battery life is not the strong suit for many mid-range laptops, the Acer Aspire E 15 breaks the norm.

Pricing

The Acer Aspire E 15 is a mid-range notebook and is fairly priced at less than $600.
