Sharp Aquos R2 has finally been launched by the company as a bezel-less smartphone with flagship specs. Sharp brought on the same Snapdragon 845 chip on other flagship smartphones for 2018. Making the Aquos R2 the latest flagship smartphone with the powerful chip. This is coming just weeks after the Aquos S3 was introduced.

Design
The R2 has a unique design that’s more attractive than what we typically see from Sharp. The Metal body with aluminium frame has always been a good combination. As expected, the Metal body was nicely polished to perfection, with IPX5, IPX8 and IP6X certifications.
At the top left corner, we can see dual shooters sitting in a vertical position and ready for some photography and videos. There’s a LED flash right beside them, completing the rear features. Turning over to the sides, it measures 9mm in thickness and weighs 181g overall. It’s available in Black and White colors, making it more premium.
Display
It’s safe to say that Sharp really loves their selfie notched screen. This will delight those who don’t want their selfie camera on the bottom bezel. There’s a physical home button at the bottom bezel which doubles as the fingerprint scanner.
The 6-inch IGZO IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen is literally out of this world. With a resolution of 1440 x 3040 pixels and 561 pixel per inch density, watch all your movies in sharp detail. The screen dishes out a 19:9 aspect ratio, stretches up to 77.8% screen-to-body ratio with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.

Hardware and Software
The Aquos R2 houses the powerful Snapdragon 845 chip from Qualcomm with Octa-core processor and 64-bit CPU architecture. The 8-Cores of processor here clocks at a blazing speed of 2.6GHz with 10nm process technology. Taking care of graphics is the Adreno 630 graphics processor.
The 4GB RAM space has a memory speed of over 1GHz for smooth and fast multitasking of heavy apps. A standard 64GB storage space is available as well and upgradeable up to 400GB, if you can let go of a SIM slot. The Sharp Aquos R2 runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.
Camera
This smartphone sports dual 16.3MP + 22.6MP rear shooters, but don’t get too excited yet. The 16.3MP shooter that comes first at the top is just for video recording only. While the 22.6MP sensor underneath is for all your photography needs. The video-only camera comes with a few cool features, recording 4K in 135° ultra-wide angle. Additionally, the AI in the camera takes photos automatically during a video shoot. There’s another 16.3MP camera with its own notch for selfies.

Battery
Powering the Sharp Aquos R2 is a 3130mAh non-removable Li-Ion battery with fast charging technology. With the fast charging feature, it shouldn’t take up to 1.7 hours to fully charge up the battery from 0% to 100%.
