Sharp R1S launched with 5000mAh Battery and Dual Rear Camera – Review, Full Specs and Price

The Sharp R1S was launched today with midrange specs. A powerful midrange smartphone it is, packing 3GB of RAM, 32GB internal storage and 5000mAh battery. The beauty comes with the trending dual rear camera and a solid overall unibody as well. First announced on the 6th of February, the device is Sharp’s way of trying to dominate the midrange market. But is the phone really worth it? Lets find out.

Design

Sharp R1S

Made completely from Metal, the smartphone is absolutely stunning to be honest. There’s no fingerprint scanner anywhere at the back, the dual rear camera likewise the dual antenna lines brought out the beauty of this device. Sitting right beside the dual rear shooters is a dual-LED flash.

The phone isn’t portable and with a massive battery it weighs more than 200g. But if you are into bigger battery capacity this shouldn’t be a problem right? Moving to the sides, where the volume keys and power button is. It isn’t as slim as i initially thought which is also because of the battery i think. It’s available in only Black and Gold colors only, i think more bright colors would have done justice to its bright body.

I have no idea why there are so much bezels on the R1S, after Sharp literally ‘invented’ the bezel-less trend. The bezels were reduced no doubt, but it is still there. The home button at the bottom bezel doubles as the fingerprint scanner, while the top bezel houses the selfie camera, speaker grille and sensor.

Focusing on the screen now, the 5.5-inch IPS LCD Capacitive touchscreen is stunning. Boasting of 1280×720 pixels in resolution and 267 pixel per inch density. Furthermore, it supports multi-touch with a 16:9 aspect ratio, while the 2.5D Curved Glass on the screen offers scratch resistant.

Hardware and Software

Running the race here is the MediaTek MT6750 chip with octa-core processor which clocks at 1.3 GHz. It has a 28nm process technology, 64-bit CPU architecture and an ARM Mali-T860 MP2 graphics processing unit. The graphics processor comes with 2-cores and reaches a maximum speed of 520 MHz.

For multitasking, the device comes with 3GB RAM space for smooth multitasking and reaches a memory speed of 640MHz. The internal storage space is 32GB large, ready to accommodate all your files and games. If you need more space, you can upgrade up to 64GB by inserting a memory card in the SIM 2 slot. The R1S runs smoothly on Android 7.0 Nougat with modified user interface.

Camera

The dual rear shooters on this beauty is ideal for photography lovers, it captures 4K resolution images. The 13MP + 5MP dual rear shooters with f/2.0 aperture will work together to deliver photos with 4160 x 3120 pixels in dimension. It comes with a dual-LED flash and other quality features like autofocus, touch focus, continuous Shooting and the rest. Record videos of 1080pixels at 30 frames per second and take selfies with 5MP selfie camera. The selfie camera has a f/2.4 aperture with no front flash.

Battery

Powering the Sharp R1S is a 5000mAh non-removable Li-Po battery with no fast charging technology support. Charging up the device from 0% to 100% might take between 3-4 hours, making you a wall hugger.
