Design
The XP8 was made from Polycarbonate to achieve its rugged look. The device is IP69 certified, offering unrivalled durability even underwater. Of course, the Sonim XP8 is dust and water resistant for up to 30 minutes. The rear camera is at the top middle, with the LED flash sitting to the left and the Sonim logo to the right.
The little top part that popped out has a hook and can be used as a key holder. The six lines at the back also makes the device very comfortable to hold. But when you turn over to the side, you’ll see how bulky it is, measuring a massive 18mm in thickness. It weighs 335g as well and available in only Black color.
Display
The first thing i noticed at the front is the dual loudspeaker which sits side by side the three navigation buttons at the bottom bezel. There’s another Sonim logo at the top bezel with the selfie camera, speaker grille and sensors.
It has a compact 5-inch IGZO capacitive touchscreen that’s crystal clear and sharp. Boasting of 1080 x 1920 pixels in resolution and 441 pixel per inch density, offering immersive clarity. A Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protects the screen as it stretches up to 57.20% screen to body ratio.

Hardware and Software
Doing all the work underneath is the Snapdragon 630 chip from Qualcomm with Octa-core processor and 64-bit CPU architecture. The 4-cores of processor boasts of a speed of 2.2GHz with 14nm process technology as well. Handling graphics is the Adreno 508 graphics processor from Qualcomm.
Multitask through thick and thin with 4GB of RAM space available alongside a memory speed of 1.333GHz. Furthermore, it has 64GB available storage space that is upgradeable up to 128GB using a memory card. The Sonim XP8 runs on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system with modified user interface.
Camera
The 12MP shooter at the rear captures photographs with 4032 x 3024 pixels in dimension. The camera comes with a LED flash and other features like Autofocus, Panorama, Touch focus, Phase Detection and others. Videos of 1080 pixels can recorded at 30 frames per second while the 8MP selfie should take beautiful selfies.

Battery
Powering the Sonim XP8 is a 4900mAh removable Li-Ion battery with fast charging technology. With the fast charging feature, it shouldn’t take up to 1.9 hours to fully charge up the battery from 0% to 100%.
