Sugar S11 – Review
Chinese company Sugar just announced their latest smartphone Sugar S11 which will be launched on Valentine’s day. The phone will be available from February 14th, perfect for a Valentine’s day gift perhaps? The phone is already available in the country’s online store Alibaba, which is totally weird. The phone isn’t cheap though, boasting of 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. Want to know more about this beauty? Stay with me.
Design
Ok so there’s a half sugar photo and half Ethereum logo at the back. Its still uncertain if the phone would be used to mine the cryptocurrency. Although, the company are known for making softwares that can be used to mine bitcoins, so there’s a possibility. The device is beautiful from the back, as the dual rear camera sits in a vertically position at the top left.
The fingerprint scanner is not the usual fingerprint scanner though, you can hardly spot it from afar. The Sugar logo sits at the bottom corner boldly, the body was made from metal. Sugar phones are always breathtaking, so i’m not surprised at all, seeing how beautiful the S11 is. It measures 7.85mm slim, weighs 187g and available in only Rose-Gold and Blue colors.

Display
2018 is the year of the bezel-less screen and every smartphone company is going with the trend. Y’all know i’m not a fan of a company logo at the bottom bezel, its ridiculous. Sugar wants you to know they created this, just by looking at the screen which is not flattering. Nevertheless, the screen is brilliant dishing out the trendy Full View display.
The huge 5.99 IPS, LCD capacitive touchscreen is beautiful and i’m impressed to be honest. The screen boasts of a screen resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels with 403 pixel per inch density. No doubt, the details on the screen would be popping and sharp, reaching 78% screen to body ratio. Everything on the screen is protected by the 2.5D curved glass screen offering scratch an dust resistance.
Hardware and Software
Sugar S11 houses the Snapdragon 450 chipset from Qualcomm with Octa-Core processor clocking at 1.8GHz. The processor has a 64-Bit CPU architecture and 14nm process technology, while the Adreno 506 processor from Qualcomm is in charge of everything graphics.
You can multitask through heavy apps hassle free with 4GB RAM space that reaches a memory speed of 933 MHz. Store everything storable on the 64GB internal storage space, which can be upgraded up to 128GB. To upgrade, simply insert a memory card in the Sim 2 slot, not more than 128GB. Sugar S11 runs smoothly and perfectly well on Android 7.1 Nougat with Sugar OS 3.3 skin on top.
Camera
The four cameras on this device takes the most beautiful pictures, especially the 16MP + 8MP rear shooters. Both camera boasts of f/1.7 aperture and would work together to capture 4K resolution images. Yes, images taken with the S11 can go as high as 4608 x 3456 pixels in dimensions.
For selfies, there are dual front shooters as well, a 20MP + 8MP camera with face recognition feature. Take group selfies with tens of people, thanks to the 120 degree wide angle lens. Although, there’s no front LED flash anywhere on the top bezel, just the one at the back
Battery
Sugar S11 is powered by a 3060mAh Non-removable Li-Po battery with fast battery charging feature. So you can easily charge the device from 0% to 100% in less than 2 hours tops.
