Facebook was on top when it comes to thinking about a tech company falling on bad times. The company has been summoned in various user record investigations that seem to spell a kind of bleak future for the brand. Surely, Cambridge Analytica has spelled a bad year for Facebook in 2024. The issue began in March this year, when the political data firm had collected information on tens of millions of users by exploiting the old rules of the network’s app platform.

Since then, Facebook owner, Mark Zuckerberg has been in very tedious congressional testimony and several other data privacy issues have come up. With all these on, Facebook also released new portal devices which have a microphone and a camera and also sits in users’ houses.

But Facebook was not alone in giving away users information. Quora, MyFitness Pal, Equifax, and others have also been in trouble for it.

Second biggest happening in the world of tech is the Cryptocurrency saga which broke many hearts. In 2017, Bitcoin was worth about $20,000 and people began to buy. That buying extended into 2018 but now the price sits for arour $3,700 USD and thereabouts. No one knows how much it will be by the time you read this.

Thirdly, it is also the year that Apple decided not to tell us how many gadgets it sells per year. These sales not disclosed will include that of iPhones, iPads, or Macs but the financial crowd don’t like this. And Apple stocks are falling already!

Fourth, is that for phones, the screen notch is gaining the upper hand. It was actually first seen on the Essential phone. Then iPhone X really made the fad very popular.

Fifth, we are seeing a new internet in 2024 – thanks to GDPR. Full name General Data Protection Regulation; it went into operation and imposed a sweeping set of privacy rules that affected users around the world. The USA is also on that matter, although the UK is taking it more seriously. We wait to see what happens with that in the year 2019.
