There are only a few laptop-tablet hybrids that come with a combination of elegant design, great performance, and a wonderful display. The Samsung Chromebook Pro is an ultrabook that checks on all these features and more.

Design

Samsung doesn’t joke when it comes to design, as this laptop attests to that. This is a great looking laptop with an almost completely metal chassis. The ultrabook comes in a slim body with the metal casing giving it a high-end look and feel.

This laptop uses a 4:3 aspect ratio that reduces the width of the screen, and the device in general. This results in a package that looks almost like a square.

Since this is a hybrid laptop, the screen folds all the way through 360 degrees turning the laptop into a tablet. The dimensions of this device are 11.06 x 8.72 x 0.55 inches and weighs 2.38 pounds

Display

As already stated, one strong point of the Samsung Chromebook Pro is its wonderful display. Samsung gave this device a Quad HD resolution (2400 x 1600 pixels) 12.3-inch display with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Since this is a hybrid device, it also touches sensitive. The screen resolution means that you get a 3:2 aspect ratio, which is a deviation from the usual 16:9 screens we’ve come to know.

There is a stylus included with this laptop with a slot for it on the right side of the laptop. This pen can be used for taking notes or for sketching, image editing, and much more.

Keyboard and Touchpad

The Samsung Chromebook Pro features a full-size island-style keyboard and a great touchpad. There are a total of 74 keys on this laptop with enough key travel making for easy typing.

Performance

There is one feature that makes the Samsung Chromebook Pro stand out from the crowd, and that is the fact that it is compatible with the Google Play Android app store. This means that this Chromebook will be able to run most of your Android apps. This is a good thing as it breaks the limit – that they cannot run your favorite desktop apps – that has held Chromebooks for over a while now.

Under the hood is an Intel Core m3-6y30 CPU paired with 4GB of RAM and a 32GB eMMC. This processor clocked at 2.2GHz is a serious mid-range one and actually does the job well for this Chromebook.

The GPU is an integrated Intel HD Graphics 515 which is quite good as it performs well for the majority of the apps thrown at it.

Battery Life

The Samsung Chromebook Pro inspires in a lot of ways including having a modest battery. Using this laptop for video streaming can give you up to about 9 hours or more from the built-in 39 Whr 2 cell battery. This is actually good, as it is the average for most laptops.

Connectivity

You have the newer Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity option, two USB type C ports, a headphone jack, a microphone jack, WiFi, and a microSD slot for storage expansion
