Third-party OLED display may be used on Samsung Galaxy M41

Samsung still dominates the small OLED screen market with its customers including large companies like Apple. This includes screens on smartphones, tablets, watches, etc. Now, for the first time ever, the South Korean company, is going to source OLED displays from external manufacturers.

The phone the company plans to use the display on is the Galaxy M41 and when this happens, it will be the first Samsung smartphone to use a non-Samsung OLED, according to insiders. Reports also reveal that Samsung has already chosen China Star Optoelectronics Technology (CSOT), which is owned by TCL to source for the display.

However, Samsung has an alternative lined up in the form of BOE and maybe even as a source for screens of future flagship smartphones like the Galaxy S21 (but we all know that is not happening).

Xiaomi and Motorola wanted to make the Mi 10 and Edge phones respectively, they chose CSOT to source for their displays. Samsung Electronics too can choose a component manufacturer that will complement the price and specifications of the phone best. Samsung Display, on the other hand, doesn’t have that luxury.

A few months ago, we got to see the first renders of the Galaxy M41. It revealed a flat display, a punch-hole selfie camera, and a fingerprint sensor on the rear. We haven’t seen much info about the phone since.
