Google has set up a section of its website dedicated to the coronavirus pandemic. The section in question is accessible at google.com/covid19. For the moment the US version is more complete but the versions for the various countries in the world should be updated shortly.
In the dedicated section of Google you can find information on the pandemic, links to educational material controlled by verified organisms, safety tips, data on the spread of coronavirus in the world, tips for everyday life and work, and links for donations.
Google intends to show carefully screened information (disinformation and hoaxes, especially on Facebook and WhatsApp, are on the agenda), links to Twitter accounts of local civic organizations and health authorities.
At the end of March the “WhatsApp coronavirus information hub” was born, a service with which the Zuckerberg company tries to counter the spread of buffaloes, born thanks to the partnership with the World Health Organization, Unicef and Undp, and the donation of $ 1 million to the Poynter Institute’s International fact-checking network.
Microsoft has in the past days made available an interesting dashboard to check the spread of the pandemic. Apple released a tool to derive mobility data trends. In addition to providing useful information to local and health authorities, these data can offer an important starting point for the development of future public policies as they show changes in the volume of travel by car, on foot or by public transport in a given community. An app and site with information has also been launched.
