Wi-Fi is an invention without which today we can not imagine life. Initially, this standard operated in the 2.4 GHz range, and then 5 GHz was also introduced. Now we find out that permission has been granted for the admission of the third band – 6 GHz. Experts believe this is the biggest change for Wi-Fi in 20 years.
FCC, or the US Federal Communications Commission, gave permission to use the 6 GHz band. The new standard is Wi-Fi 6E and such markings should soon be expected on the first compliance products. They will appear in the second half of the year, but in fact, they will begin to arrive in 2024.
Theoretically, 6 GHz Wi-Fi provides the same maximum bandwidth it offers in the 5 GHz range and is 9.6 Gbps. However, signals in the older band are limited and therefore the actual speeds are lower. The new version of the routers will be able to use the full size of the channel. We also expect more stable connections.
To sum up- wanting to use the new standard we will have to get rid of the current router and stock up on a new device supporting Wi-Fi 6E. In this way, we will gain a more stable connection and a higher, maximum speed of wireless internet connection.
