Xgody Y19 – Review
Xgody Y19 is one of the newest affordable smartphone from Xgody with average specs. Released in December 2017, the smartphone retails for just $109 (N40,000) on online stores. The OEM are known for making budget friendly smartphones with quality specs. Apart from the dual rear camera, what else does the Xgody Y19 have in store for us? Lets find out.
Design
Made exquisitely from a well crafted plastic and polished aluminium alloy, the Y19 is simply beautiful. To be honest, the dual rear camera sure adds to the beauty of this device. The dual separated LED flash is quite a stunner as well, sitting side by side the vertical placed cameras.

It measures 8.2mm slim by the sides, reducing the overall thickness. However, the device tends to be much heavier and might be pretty difficult to operate with one hand, weighing 211g. The fingerprint scanner is also below the dual rear shooters, as they all form kind of an attractive pyramid of some sort. The Y19 is available in three beautiful colors as well, that’s Pink, Gold and Purple.
Display
It sports a bigger display screen, so you wouldn’t really notice the bezels though. There are three navigation buttons at the bottom bezel and an in-display touch buttons as well. The top bezel houses the selfie camera, LED flash, speaker grid and ambient light sensor. Nevertheless, the overall bezels can still be reduced if Xgody wanted to.
The 6-inch IPS capacitive touchscreen is big enough to play games and watch movies in HD. It boasts of 1280×720 pixels in resolution with 245 pixel per inch density. The screen has a 24-bit color depth, supports multi-touch and stretched all way to 72.25% screen to body ratio offering more screen.
Hardware and Software
The brain behind the Xgody Y19 is the MediaTek MT6737 chipset with Quad-Core processor. The processor reaches a clock speed of 1.3 GHz, a 28nm process technology and 64-Bit CPU architecture. For graphics, the ARM Mali-T720 MP2 processing unit with 2-Cores is in charge, reaching a speed of 600MHz.
Multitask lots of light apps with 2GB RAM space, the RAM reaches a memory speed of 640MHz. Store everything storable in the 16GB internal storage space, with only 10GB available to accommodate everything. If that isn’t enough, you can easily upgrade up to 64GB by inserting a microSD in the sim 2 slot. The device runs on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system with modified user interface.
Camera
The dual rear 8MP + 0.3MP shooters is definitely the highlight of the device. The 8MP camera can be interpolated up to 13MP in resolution while running, to capture 3K resolution images. Photographs taken with phone boasts of 3264 x 2448 Pixels in dimension, with extreme clarity and stunning details.
Two LED flash are beside the dual shooters, one on each side, for bright photos in dark places. It supports HD recording, you can record videos of 720pixels @ 30 frames per second. The 5MP selfie camera with LED flash takes nice selfies as well.
Battery
Xgody Y19 is powered by a massive 2900mAh Non-removable Li-Po battery, with no fast battery charging feature. Nevertheless, it shouldn’t take more than 3 hours to fully charge up the battery.
