New Bluetooth vulnerability puts millions of devices at risk

If you don’t know, most Bluetooth devices pair more easily these days! Do you know why? All thanks to the ‘Just Works‘ security model! A security method originally implemented with the Bluetooth 4.0 standard.

However, this same security model also seems to have brought some added difficulties! Since new vulnerabilities have now been discovered… which unfortunately seem to be able to compromise all of your Bluetooth devices.

Therefore, new vulnerabilities appear to allow attackers within the reach of devices based on the BT 4.x and BT 5.0 standards. The possibility of accessing all paired devices. What of course is includes your smartphone.

In short, this means that there are millions of devices (smartphones, tablets, laptops, etc…) in danger. However, the chance of actually being attacked is extremely low. Since it is necessary to be at a certain minimum distance for the attacker to succeed.

Still, it starts to be a little worrying. See so many vulnerabilities to be discovered in standards as popular as this one.
