itel S42 was launched in India earlier this week, a budget friendly smartphone with midrange specs and an update to the S41 smartphone. This is itel’s first smartphone with 3GB RAM, Snapdragon chip and the trending bezel-less display.

Design
itel sure loves their plastic covers and won’t be departing from it anytime soon. But this device looks more classy and sleek than their previous smartphones. The rear camera and LED flash are in a vertical position at the top left corner dishing out an iPhone X kinda vibe.
The rear fingerprint scanner is in its usual position as well, the device sports dual antenna lines which beautifies the rear. There’s a 3.5 mm jack on top, a usb port and loudspeakers at the bottom. It measures 8.25 mm in thickness and was launched in Black color, no words yet if other colors would be rolled out as well.
Display
Finally, itel has followed the footsteps of its sister company, Tecno and Infinix. The S42 has major reduction in bezels, dishing out an 18:9 aspect ratio. The screen might not be as impressive as the Camon CM and Hot S3, but we have to give it to the budget smartphone maker.
The top bezel houses the usual features including a front LED flash, while the bottom bezel is obviously vacant. The 5.65-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen is pretty standard. Boasting of 720 x 1440 pixels in resolution and 285 pixel per inch density for clear visuals.
Hardware and Software
Houses the Snapdragon 425 chip, making it the first itel smartphone to ship with Qualcomm’s chip. It has a quad-core processor alongside 64-bit CPU architecture. The 4-cores of processor clocks at 1.4GHz and has a 28nm process technology for a smooth ride. In the graphics department, the Qualcomm Adreno 504 is totally in charge.
There’s a bigger 3GB RAM space available here for smooth multitasking of heavy apps. The RAM has a memory speed of 667MHz, while for storage, 16GB is available as well. You can upgrade up to 128GB with a memory card, while the phone runs smoothly on Android 8.0 Oreo.
Camera
For photography, there’s a crystal clear 13MP rear shooter with f/2.2 aperture and LED flash. There’s another 13MP selfie camera at the top bezel with f/2.2 aperture as well. The selfie camera comes with a dedicated LED flash for night selfies and video calls. According to itel, the 13MP selfie camera takes the best selfies even in low light environment.
Battery
Powering the itel S42 is a 3000mAh removable Li-Ion battery with no fast charging technology. Without the fast charging feature, it might take more than 2 hours to fully charge up the battery from 0% to 100%.

Wow! Itel too don dey vex to dey produce excellent phone too! Nice phone from itel mobile at least itel.is now improving the itel s32 has a very nice design with dual camera for Selfie and this itel s42 is the king of itel smartphone with 3GB
Another thing I noticed was that in YouTube, the pinch to zoom feature did not work, which is used to expand videos to fit them for 18:9 displays. I’m not sure what happened in this case..
It also slows down while you’re working with multiple tabs open and also facing app crash on more than one instance.
The smartphone scores low on performance for me, which is a crucial factor to consider while buying a smartphone. Though Itel S42 comes with a good camera and design.
the Itel S42 is a new-age budget smartphone with a tall form factor, thin-bezel design and a big screen. At the given price point, ■ Smartphones with a metal back are no big deal these days, even in the budget segment. Itel has given the back panel a slightly different spiral design pattern. It gives the back a shiny appearance and a little bit of style quotient to the S42.
Wao..I sincerely love wat iam seeing from itel, personally the first android phone I Starr using was itel1506, now that they have up graded so much I praise their effort.
