Huawei sees massive growth in first quarter of 2024

Over the first quarter of the year, smartphone sales in Europe have seen a significant drop, but Huawei is to surprise positively with a very important increase in its market share. Let’s check out some numbers.

Data released by IDC says that deliveries of new smartphones in Europe in the period of January-March 2019 dropped by 2.74% on an annual basis and it is now 53.5 million units. During this first quarter period, the two Chinese producers of the “moment”, which are Xiaomi and Huawei, have seen significant growth with Huawei having experienced huge growth.

As a matter of fact, Samsung delivered 15.7 million smartphones in Western, Central and Eastern Europe and that is a drop of 6.82% on an annual basis. The South Korean company remains at the top but it faces fierce competition by Huawei who comes in second place. The China-based company sold 13.5 million units, seeing a rise of 66.13%, which helped it to gain a market share of 25%.

Right below Huawei, in third place, is Apple which sees a huge drop in numbers and recorded 7.8 million iPhones delivered (a 22.73% drop). Up next is Xiaomi who rises to third place. The company experienced a growth of 33% over the first quarter with 2.9 million smartphones delivered. HMD Global drops to fifth place after being overtaken by Xiaomi. The company saw a drop of 32% in smartphones delivered with 2.2 million units recorded.

This means that Huawei is the company that has seen the biggest growth in Europe in the first quarter of the year. However, as we have already seen, the company will need to find a way to navigate past the US ban affair and review its leadership plans.

So do you think Huawei can beat Samsung to make the top spot with the company facing different sorts of troubles resulting from the US ban? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
