A leak in Gearbest has made it possible to get a better grasp of how the Asus ROG Phone will look. Over the past months, some information has been revealed about this smartphone, but the price was not made known. Even the launch date was sketchy but now we know that the Asus ROG Phone will launch in October 2018.
This is a gaming smartphone that many have been looking forward to buying it. It is, however, more expensive than most of would think as this review will later highlight. One of the greatest highlights of Asus ROG Phone is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, the latest and most powerful processor out there right now.
Design and Display Features of Asus ROG Phone
Body dimensions for Asus ROG are 158.8 x 76.2 x 8.7 mm. It weighs 200 grams, having the front and back made of Corning Gorilla Glass and aluminum frame. The display type found on the smartphone is AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors.
Display size is 6 inches, of 76.8 percent screen to body ratio. Screen resolution in Asus ROG Phone is 1080 x 2160, with 18:9 ratio and 402 ppi density. This display also enables ROG Gaming X mode user interface. It is capable of multi-touch, yes up to 10 fingers.
Camera Features
Asus ROG’s main camera is dual 12 MP f/1.8, 24 mm plus 8 MP 12 mm shooters with dual pixel PDAF and no autofocus. But it is equipped with LED flash, Panorama, HDR. The video production on the main camera is 2160p@30/60fps.
For the selfie camera, there’s a single 8 MP f/2.0, 24mm wide aperture. For this front-facing camera, the features include Panorama, HDR. Video feature for this camera is 1080p@30fps.
Hardware and Software
Operating System platform for Asus ROG Phone is Android 8.1 Oreo. The chipset is Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. The CPU is Octa-core, a combination of 4×2.96 GHz Kryo 385 Gold and 4×1.7 GHz Kryo 385 Silver. GPU meant for driving graphics is Adreno 630.
Storage Sense in Asus ROG Phone
Internal storage in this device is a variant of 8GB RAM of 128GB internal storage, and 8GB RAM of 512GB. However, this device doesn’t have a memory card slot at all. The manufacturer has made it this way because the company believes you got all the space you need already built-in as far as the Asus ROG Phone is concerned.
Network and Connectivity
No doubt, Asus ROG Phone is equipped with all the common connectivity we know about. It has support for 2G, 3G, and 4G and the internet connection has Wi-Fi Direct, mobile hotspot, WLAN, etc. There’s also Bluetooth 5.0, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, and BDS. There’s also NFC and FM radio. The USB 3.1, Type-C serves a positive purpose.
Battery Life
There’s a non-removable Li-Ion 4000 mAh battery inside the Asus ROG PHone. We still don’t have full information on the talk time or the standby time but we know this is good enough for the users. However, there’s fast charging 10V/3A 30W of quick charge 4+ technology.
Price and Availability
At least now we know that we should expect to see the Asus ROG officially released to the public on October 22nd, 2018. It is going out with the price of about 1150 Euros.
