Blackview BV4000 Review – Another Rugged Smartphone From Blackview

Blackview BV4000 extends the list of Blackview’s rugged smartphone arsenal. Blackview is not only a rugged smartphone, it’s also an affordable smartphone. If you’re considering a budget smartphone that’s at the same time strong and waterproof, Blackview BV4000 is one you should consider. Without haste, let’s dig deep into the smartphone’s specs.

No other term can be more fitting for its design except rugged. From the interior to the exterior, Blackview BV4000 is rugged. It has a full octagonal frame that’s made of rubber and metal that gives the smartphone’s constituents protection from falls up to 1.5m. Adding more prominence to its nature, Blackview BV4000 not only has the IP68 certification, it can also survive in water for about 1 hour. The rear has a duly placed dual camera setup in the top quadrant while the “blackview” logo appears in the central portion. At the fore, the smartphone has the soft Android navigation buttons in the bottom bezel while the top bezel consists of the front camera and the earpiece. It comes in Black, Orange and  Green colours. The smartphone weighs 199 g and has a thickness of 15 mm.

The smartphone’s display size is 4.7 inches and it is coupled with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Its HD display also has a pixel density of 312 ppi. From a rugged smartphone, you’ll also expect a rugged screen display; that’s why the smartphone is well protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The screen display has the multi-touch input enabled and 16 million display colours.

The chipset on the smartphone is MediaTek’s MT6580A while its CPU is a Quad core ARM Cortex-A7 that clocks at 1.3GHz. The CPU makes good use of the 28nm process technology. The GPU on the smartphone is the ARM Mali-T400 MP2. Android v7.0 Nougat OS is the running software on the smartphone. The RAM that eases multi-tasking on the smartphone is 1GB. Storage of files on the smartphone is handled by a 8GB ROM that can be extended to 32GB with the adoption of a micro SD card.

The rear camera segment is very solid as it sports two cameras of 8MP quality each with bokeh effect. There is a LED flash support for brightening images taken in low light conditions. The smartphone’s front camera has a lone 2MP shooter that lacks a LED flash support. As far as cellular connectivity is concerned, Blackview BV4000 has only the 2G GSM and 3G network types. 4G LTE connectivity is unavailable. Bluetooth v4.0, Micro USB v2.0, GPS and Wi-Fi connectivity make up the other connectivity gradients.

A non-removable Lithium Polymer 3,680 mAh battery is what ensures the smartphone’s durability. A 5V/2A Quick charge technology is supported on the smartphone.
