BMW X7 – presented a new flagship, this time it is an SUV

If we talk about BMW, we certainly do not mean small cars from the city. The BMW 1 Series, the smallest in the range excluding the i3, has a remarkable wheelbase of almost 2.7 meters and a motorization of up to 340 hp. Why not add luxury to luxury? After the new BMW X2, the designers decided to reach the state of the art with a new flagship SUV concept – here you are BMW X7.

A novelty for the German house

I’m certainly not the luxury and size to be new to the house in Monaco but a luxury SUV had not yet been seen. We can say that the experience and know-how are not lacking, thanks to the acquisition of Rolls-Royce in 2003 and the Cullinan model. But now BMW has a worthy card to play against competitors Mercedes (G-Class), Bentley (Bentayga), Lamborghini (Urus) and the next in the Aston Martin and Ferrari.

The missing link was certainly in the X series – the flagship BMW 8 Series has in fact been consolidated for some time among the top of the luxurious range. The brand new X7 contains all the prestige of the house and reserves it to a limited public, not from an economic point of view; excellent strategy to preserve the exclusivity of a product.

Imposing from every point of view

Stylistically, BMW has rebuilt a lot to the Range Rover style, without obviously belittling the cousins of the house (X5 and X3). The very squared lines and projected towards the horizontality make the body very impressive. Strong of the objective dimensions (more than 5 meters in length and 2 in width) we still find a really big front end – the classic double BMW mask has a very aggressive look. All the chromed details that give the final touch of elegance worthy of each flagship conclude the aesthetics.

Needless to dwell much on the technological equipment of this model; from the 5-zone climate to all driving assistance systems you will find every comfort in every situation.

Such a large bonnet certainly does not have a 90 cm 3 cm 3 table. We find in fact from the V8 petrol 462 hp for the xDrive50i version (not marketed in Europe) to the 6 cylinders 340 hp for the xDrive40i. The 400-hp M50d diesel is also available. All the engines will be coupled to an 8-speed Steptronic transmission and the BMW xDrive intelligent AWD System.

Worthy of note is the electronic suspension control technology that can adapt in height to optimize behavior on the road. On the most prestigious models, such as the X7 M50d, an off-road package will also be included, including the regulation of four operating modes (xSand, xGravel, xRocks, and xSnow). The launch is scheduled for March 2019.
