Coolpad M3 is a new smartphone that was announced and released under the stable of Coolpad. The name is cool enough to attract anyone’s attention. Most importantly, this device comes in with an array of splendid features. First it comes with a display notch, though it is a cheap Android smartphone. Secondly, it packs in amazing RAM space for the price. Next, its camera department is good enough as well.

Design and Display of Coolpad M3

Surprisingly, this smartphone arrives with a metal body. The dimensions are 149.8 x 72.3 x 8.95 mm and it weighs 171 grams. It comes in black and blue colors. The device lacks water resistant feature but has fingerprint sensor, and AI powered face recognition technology.

Display type is IPS LCD capacitive touch screen of 16 million colors. Screen size is 5.85 inches. The phone also has no secondary display. Pixel density is 286 ppi, pixel resolution is 1512 x 720 pixels, and aspect ratio is 19.9. Furthermore, the screen to body ratio is 79.4 percent.

Display protection includes 2.5D curved glass and notch display.

Camera Features

At the rear of the Coolpad M3, there is a single camera of 13 MP f/2.2 aperture, and 5P lens option. It arrives with LED flash. In addition, the camera to the front is 5 MP f/2.2 aperture, 480p, and face unlock option. There is a front flash technology, while the video performance is 1080p@30fps.

Other cool camera options are geotagging, autofocus, HDR, touch focus, face detection, panorama, and time lapse.

Hardware and Software

Android OS v8.1 Oreo runs the device. It does so with the CoolUI user interface. Of course, this software will upgrade to Android 9 Pie soon. Other hardware components are MediaTek MT6750 chipset with process technology 28nm, running on 64-bit architecture. CPU is Octa-core and the GPU is Mali T860 MP2.

Storage Capacity and Sensors

There is an amazing 4GB internal memory that cannot be expanded. However, the internal storage of 32GB can be increased to 256GB with a micro SD card. However, the phone lacks a micro SD slot but the user can make use of the SIM two slot.

Sensors in the Coolpad M3 are accelerometer, proximity, ambient light, and fingerprint.

Network Connectivity

It is not surprising to note that the device arrives as a 4G smartphone but there are also 2G and 3G networks on it. That makes it a GSM, CDMA, TD-SCDMA, HSPA, and LTE device. There are two nano SIM cards to help serve this purpose.

Other connectivity components are Bluetooth v4.0, Wi-Fi, mobile hotspot, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, BDS, headphone jack, and micro USB 2.0. However, there are no NFC, infrared, or HDMI in the device.

Battery Life

Powering the device is a Li-Po 2800 mAh non-removable battery which has no wireless charging, no fast charging capability. We are not able to verify the talk time and the standby time for now.
