Cubot A5 Review, Price, Performance, Camera & Full Specs

Cubot A5 has finally sneaked in like many other smartphones in the market. There was the P20 and now we have the A5 which is trendy in its own space. For a cheap Android smartphone this large storage device is worth another look. This mobile phone was announced in September but released in the month of October 2018.

Further than that, we will take a look at all things that make the Cubot A5 tick. These include the design, display, camera, price, battery, and other salient features.

Design and Display of Cubot A5

Body design type is mainly plastic. Dimensions are 75 x 153.6 x 8.5 mm, and it weighs 188 grams. The Cubot A5 is not water resistant, nor does it have a secondary display. It comes in gold and blue colors.

Display type is FHD IPS LCD capacitive touch screen of 16 million colors. Screen size is 5.5 inches but pixels resolution is 1080 x 1920 pixels. Further, screen to body ratio is 72.62 percent, pixel density is 401 ppi, and aspect ratio is 16:9. Protective features are multi-touch, scratch resistant, and 2.5D curved glass screen, anti-fingerprint coating, and more.

Camera Features

At the camera department there is a single main 13 MP camera that produces good images. It comes with LED flash and f/2.2. The video performance is also put at 720p@30fps with FHD recording. The advanced feature is Samsung S5KL8. However, other features include auto focus, continuous shooting, digital zoom, face detection, ISO settings, panorama, HDR, touch focus, self-timer and host of other good features.

To the front there is a selfie 8 MP camera which comes without front flash and other features are very rigid, yet the aperture is f/2.2.

Hardware and Software of Cubot A5

Android 8.0 Oreo is the driving force when it comes to the operating system. This arrives on a modified user interface. Other hardware components are as follows – MediaTek MT6753 chipset with process technology 28nm. The CPU is Octa-core 1.5 GHz 8-Cores, and GPU is ARM Mali-T720 MP3 2-Cores. These operate with 64-bit architecture.

Storage Capacity and Sensors

For storage, there is 3GB of RAM which cannot be increased. However, the internal storage is 32GB and that can be expanded up to 128GB with a microSD card. Sensors in the Cubot A5 are fingerprint, accelerometer, proximity, ambient light, compass, and gyroscope.

Network and Connectivity in Cubot 5A

There are 2G, 3G, and 4G network in this device. The device works on GSM, WCDMA, HSDPA, and LTE networks. There are two Nano SIM cards to make things work smoothly. Other components of connectivity are Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, mobile hotspot, USB Type-C, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, HDMI, 3.5mm jack and others. However, there is no NFC or infrared in the Cubot A5.

Battery Life

Powering the Cubot A5 is a 3000 mAh Li-Po non-removable battery that has no fast charging or wireless charging technology. In view of this, a user will have to take pains to charge the smartphone from zero percent to 100 percent.

Price and Availability

Pricing of Cubot A5 is $100 or thereabouts. Price may differ from store to store. But the device, which was announced in September 2018 was released in the month of October 2018. This means the smartphone is available for purchase.
