Dark mode finally comes to WhatsApp for Android and iOS

After a long wait, WhatsApp for Android and iOS finally received the native dark mode. This mode that was long-awaited by users is being made available in a phased manner.

Dark mode finally comes to WhatsApp for Android and iOS

As you would expect, the new dark mode aims to reduce eye fatigue in low light environments. The dark theme created by WhatsApp is not really black, but a special dark gray background and a whitish color, which should decrease the brightness of the screen and improve the contrast and readability.

An important aspect is that this new feature is not only present in Android 10. So, if you have a smartphone with the Android 9.0 Pie operating system, you can activate the new dark mode after performing the update. Go to Settings / Conversation / Theme and select Dark. For those lucky enough to have a smartphone with Android 10, the new dark mode can be activated in the system settings.

The same is true for those who use the iPhone. Thus, the new dark mode can be activated in the system settings.

Dark Mode on WhatsApp reaches all platforms

After the mobile platforms we mentioned above, Dark Mode on WhatsApp also comes to the desktop version.

The dark mode for the web version and application of WhatsApp for Desktop was discovered by the website WABetaInfo. One does not escape them on this platform. So, in the images below, we see WhatsApp dressed in black. The images show what the main screen will look like, the conversations and the sections dedicated to emojis, stickers, and GIFs. However, there is something else that we notice in the images. The graphic interface is not yet complete.

However, the activation of the dark mode in WhatsApp, both in the web and desktop version, will be done through a button that should be located in the settings. Considering that the interface is still being finalized, it should still take some time.
