How To Fix Galaxy S8 And Galaxy S8 Plus Microphone Issues?

The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus can sometimes have issues with their Microphones, which hinders the phone from performing its most simple function of receiving phone calls and making phone calls.

If the mic on your Samsung phone is not functioning well, the individual on the other end cannot hear you and your device will find it difficult to do its number one job.

For the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ devices, owners might see it as a hardware or software issue but a lot of hardware problems have to be taken care of by professionals.

There are a few things that can you can do on your own to know if the microphone issue is caused by a software issue. Lets find out:

1. Check Your Phone Accessories

If your device has a Bluetooth headset or headphones, then it is possible that there is a hardware issue between these devices and your device’s built-in microphone. To rectify this issue, ensure your headphones/headset are disconnected and then power off your Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ to confirm if it fixed the problem. As soon as you disable Bluetooth, your mic should work properly.

2. Check For Debris In Your Device’s Microphone

It is not rampant but it happens. It could be debris, dirt, or grit around your microphone area that is causing the issue. Check and confirm if that is the case. If it is, use compressed air from a can to get them out. This will make the area clean and rectify the mic issue.

3. Power Your Device Off And On

There is a reason why tech support always asks you to reboot the PC. Well, your mobile phone is a little PC. For several issues, a restart of the device is all that is needed to right all wrongs. For a total reset of the device, take out the SIM card and the battery, and allow the phone to sit for thirty seconds or so, then put the SIM and the battery back in and power on your smartphone. After that, check the mic is it has been fixed.

4. Check For 3rd Party App Issues On Your Device

If everything else was going smooth, and then you downloaded an app and started experiencing the mic malfunction, then the new app might be the cause. Uninstallation is possible or you can boot your device into Safe Mode (which will prevent 3rd-party applications from running) and confirm if the issue is fixed.

If the problem remains in Safe Mode, then the new application is the problem. If the problem vanishes, then you can uninstall the application and rectify the problem.

To Boot Your Device Into Safe Mode:

  1. Power off your device.
  2. Press and hold the Power button down.
  3. Release the button as soon as “Samsung Galaxy S8” and “Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus” are visible on the display.
  4. Press and hold the Volume Down button instantly after that till your device is done restarting.
  5. “Safe Mode” will be visible at the bottom of the screen.
  6. Release the Volume button.
  7. Your device will be booted up in “Safe Mode.”

5. Clean Your Device’s Cache

The cache on your device is a storage area that focuses on the OS or individual applications. At times, if the cache goes bad, this will result in problems with the operation of the device, including the mic. So clean it.
