It’s definitely no news that the LED flash on the back of iPhones can also be used as a flashlight. A shortcut to this feature has even been added to Control Center since iOS 7 was released. However, did you know you can increase or decrease the brightness of the flashlight on your iPhone? Well, in this guide, we will show you how.
How to Adjust the Brightness of the Flashlight on Your iPhone
First off, go to the Control Center on your iPhone. You can do this using one of the two methods listed below:
- iPhone SE and iPhone 8 or older- Swipe up from the bottom of your iPhone’s display
- iPhone X or newer- Swipe down from the top right corner of your iPhone’s display.
Once in the Control Center, tap and hold on the flashlight icon. Note that your Control Center might not look like the one in the screenshot depending on how you have it customized.
After holding on to the icon for a few seconds, a new screen with a flashlight icon on top and a large five-segment slider in the center will appear on the screen. Selecting the top segment will have the flashlight increased to maximum brightness while taking it to the bottom will turn the flashlight off completely.
To adjust the brightness of your flashlight, simply tap on the slider and move it up or down depending on whether you want to increase or decrease the brightness. You can also simply tap on a segment depending on the brightness you want. You should keep in mind that leaving your flashlight turned on at maximum brightness will run your iPhone’s battery down faster.
After you have adjusted the flashlight brightness to your preference, simply tap on the screen once and you will be taken back to the screen you were on before. Your flashlight will remain lit, however. To turn the flashlight off, simply go back to the Control Center and tap on the flashlight icon.
Whenever next you turn on the flashlight on your iPhone, it will take up the brightness you set on the slider.
