The best way to fix this issue is by opening the Settings app on your iPhone. Next up, tap on the Messages option and then tap on Send & Receive. Now look for the ‘Use your Apple ID for iMessage’ and tap on it. Enter your Apple ID. Also, make sure that you registered your Apple ID details and phone number registered under You Can Be Reached By iMessage. Now, go back to the Settings screen and then tap on Messages. finally, tap on Send & Receive.

However, if your iPhone isn’t within reach and you can’t deactivate the iMessage feature, you should go to the Deregister iMessage page and deactivate iMessage. When you go to the page, scroll to the bottom of the screen. You should see an option which says “no longer have your iPhone?”. Below this option is a box. Type in your phone number, select your region and then tap on Send code.

A code will be sent to your phone number. Enter the code in the “Enter Confirmation Code” box. Finally, tap on Submit.
