How to fix bricked PS4 consoles problem

Earlier this week, we reported a malicious message sent by PS4 players to others in an attempt to cause interruptions and brick their consoles. Fortunately, Sony has already solved the problem.

Sony has already fixed the problem of bricking the PS4

The company did not provide any details about the changes it made and, despite a previous statement suggesting that the company will issue a system update, no updates were sent to the players’ consoles, since the changes by Sony seem to be enough to stop the problem.

How to repair your affected console

While it is hoped that this will prevent more consoles from falling victim to the infamous message, for those who were already affected, Sony also provided a solution that does not require resetting the console . The solution, which had already been suggested unofficially by players on Reddit, now has the official seal of approval from Sony, and requires that you delete the message using the PS Messages mobile application, restart the console in Safe Mode and rebuild the database .

  • Remove the malicious message from the PlayStation mobile app.
  • Restart your PS4 in safe mode. Once the PS4 system is off, press and hold the power button again. Release it after hearing the second beep – you will hear a beep when you press it for the first time and another seven seconds later.
  • Select “Rebuild database.”

Apparently, the problem began on Saturday, October 13, when reports of the exploitation of the message on the Internet were disseminated. In the initial release of Reddit, the Huntstark user said he received an unsolicited message from a Rainbow Six Siege opponent that basically bricked his console, although Sony says that the systems are not being technically bricked, but are sent to a loop. Other users of PS4 intervened saying that their consoles were also affected by the same message.
