Amazon Fire TV Stick is one of the most popular devices for streaming movies and exclusive TV shows. It also turns any standard TV into a smart device, offering you modern features like screen sharing, music playback, video games, and so on.
However, most of these features are not available without a stable Internet connection. There are some things you can do with Fire TV Stick without an Internet connection, but your options are minimal. Read on and we’ll explain how it works.
HOW DOES IT WORK
As we have said before, Amazon Fire TV Stick needs a stable Internet connection to work properly. All Amazon Prime movies, TV shows, and music are streamed directly from the Internet. Without a connection, you can only use installed apps that do not require Internet access. However, this will also be limited as there are no controls or other options.
FIRE TV STICK AND KODI
Kodi is one of the most popular platforms for streaming movies and TV shows. You can download it and install it on Fire TV Stick. Kodi, in turn, lets you download your favorite videos directly to Fire TV Stick, allowing you to watch them offline.
You will be able to use the app as you would with a connection, but you will not be able to access the online library, but only saved videos. Download in advance what you need and you won’t need any connection. This way, you can enjoy your favorite movies and TV shows anywhere, anytime.
PLAY ANDROID GAMES

CREATE A HOTSPOT
If you have Internet on your phone, you can use your smartphone to create a hotspot and connect the Fire Stick to the Internet. Here’s what you need to do to make it work:
- Open the “Settings” app on your smartphone and activate the Hotspot function.
- Open the Alexa app on your Fire TV Stick and select “Devices”.
- Select “Amazon Tap”, then choose “Edit”.
- Find the hotspot among the available options. Select “Use this device as a Wi-Fi hotspot”.
- Press “Start”.
- Enter the name and password of your hotspot and press “Connect”.
Alexa will confirm when the connection is established and you will be able to use Fire TV Stick as usual. You should know that Amazon Tap will use your phone data, which could lead to increased data consumption.
Pay attention to your data usage. If you are not sure how many GB your cellular data plan includes, call your provider or visit the support site.
CONFIGURE A STABLE CONNECTION
Fire TV Stick is designed to work with an Internet connection. Without that, your options are very limited and you won’t really be able to enjoy most of the features this little device has to offer.
