Huawei Honor Pad 2 Review, the perfect sized tablet

If there’s anything Huawei’s known for, it would be the company’s consistency in releasing new devices (smartphones and tablets) every single year. The company released the Huawei Honor Pad 2 last year to further arm her tablets arsenal. Let’s see what the tablet is made of.

DESIGN & DISPLAY

Huawei Honor Pad 2

The design and overall body build of the Huawei Honor Pad 2 is super simple and minimalistic, both on the rear and up front. The Honor Pad 2 can be said to be a mini-tablet – just right i between the large size 10 inch tablets and 6 inch phablets. This tablet just has the perfect size. As a matter of fact, it is slightly operable using just one hand.

All the hard keys and buttons are situated at the right side of the device while the soft navigations keys are on the display.

The Huawei Honor Pad 2 has an 8.0 inch IPS capacitive touchscreen with a pretty impressive 1200 x 1920 pixels display resolution and a rather decent 283 ppi pixel density. There is a feature of the Huawei Honor Pad 2 I find interesting – the multi-touch capability. The Pad 2 has a multi-touch support of up to 10 fingers simultaneously. The screen size and quality is just the perfect combination for watching movies, reading and other surfing all your favourite social media account in full view.

PROCESSOR, OS and STORAGE

The Huawei Honor Pad 2 being an old tablet, runs on an equally old Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 processor. The processor has 8 cores (Octa core Cortex-A53 processor) and has a decent speed of 1.5 GHz. Running on the Android v6.0 Marshmallow operating system, you would enjoy better multitasking as well as storage and battery optimization.

The Pad 2 surprisingly has a large amount of RAM – 3 GB, and two ROM variants – 16 GB and 32 GB. Both variants support storage expansion to the range of 256 GB using micro SD card.

CAMERA

The Huawei Honor Pad 2 does quite decently in the snapper compartment. The primary camera is at the top right corner on the rear and is an 8 MP lens with features like Geo-tagging, face detection and HDR. A tiny little LED flash can be seen below it.

The secondary camera (or selfie camera as it is now commonly refered to) is of meagre quality – just 2 megapixels, and without LED flash support.

BATTERY

The battery capacity is one of the major highlight of this device. The Huawei Honor Pad 2 comes with a large non-removable Lithium Polymer battery of 4,800 mAh capacity. Downside of this big battery pack however is the lack of Fast charge support. Charging this device will take a really long time but is surely worth it as it is pegged to provide more than 24 hours of usage.
