Infinix Hot S vs Gionee M6 Lite – The Lifestyle smartphone or the stripped-down flagship?

Gionee launched M6 and M6 Plus in China in June this year, and following the success of this duo, Gionee decided to release the Gionee M6 Lite, a lighter version of the Gionee M6. The Gionee M6 Lite was actually downgraded to compete with other low-cost smartphones in the market. The Gionee M6 Lite comes in a metallic back design with narrow bezels on the sides. The Gionee M6 Lite also comes with high-end features like the advanced encryption feature; offering triple security system to keep your phone safe.

Infinix Hot S on the other hand is the first smartphone in the Infinix Mobility series and their second smartphone in the year 2016. The smartphone feature an impressive camera specification with dual LED flash. The Infinix Mobility announced the new Infinix Hot S smartphone in July 2016. The Hot S also features a new user interface (XOS) new design and a fingerprint scanner.

In this article, I pit Gionee M6 Lite against Infinix Hot S. I’m going to compare them according to their specifications (display, design, memory, battery, hardware, software, etc) and when I’m done, I’ll leave you to choose which one is best for you. Enjoy.

The Gionee M6 Lite is a slim phone with a thickness of 8.2mm and it comes in a metallic back design. It sports a 5.5 Inch Full HD IPS, and a resolution of 1080 x 1920 (401 PPI) pixels. It features a 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 3 screen protection against bumps and scratches meanwhile the Hot S sports a 5.2-inch IPS Full HD screen, a smaller display compared to Gionee M6 Lite. They have the same pixels resolution, but the Hot S has no screen protection from falls and scratches. In order words, the Gionee M6 Lite beats Hot S in terms of display.

Performance & Storage

The Gionee M6 Lite is powered by Octa-core MediaTek MT6755 Helio P10, with Mali-T860MP2 GPU and a speed of 1.8GHz frequency processor, a more powerful processor than that of Hot S. The Hot S X521 is powered by an Octa-core CPU that clocks with the speed of 1.5 GHz, it uses mediaTek MTK6753 chipset. In terms of storage, the Gionee M6 Lite offers a bigger storage capacity packing with it a 4GB RAM, 64GB ROM which is expandable to 256GB through a slot for the micro SD while that of the Infinix Hot S has 2GB RAM for the 16GB version and 3GB RAM for 32GB version, the storage space can be further expanded to 128GB with a micro SD cards.

For photography, a very important feature among smartphone users, the Gionee M6 Lite comes with a 13MP f/2.0 aperture phase detection autofocus (PDAF), dual-LED flash rear camera and 8MP front camera, while the Hot S also flaunts a 13MP rear camera that also comes with a dual LED flashlight. The Hot S also has an 8MP front camera for selfie lovers, the camera is equipped with a single LED flashlight. Both phones absolutely tie in terms of camera specification.

Battery & Charging

At the powerhouse, The Gionee M6 Lite packs a more powerful non-removable Li-polymer 5000mAh battery so you don’t have to carry your chargers with you everywhere you go while the Infinix Hot S packs 3,000 mAh of battery capacity, again, the Hot S can’t match Gionee M6 Lite.

Connectivity

In terms of connectivity, they basically offer typical dual SIM, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth connectivity. Both phones also sport the USB Type C port and a GPS.

The Gionee M6 Lite runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and a fingerprint sensor that opens at a speed of 0.23 second while The Hot S also runs on Android 6.0 marshmallow with the new highly customized XOS from Infinix with a lovely user interface. Apart from the fact that the Hot S also features a finger-scan technology, the phone also features virtual reality (VR) technology, an app that enables you to stream videos directly. For me, the Hot S scores higher in terms of Software and hardware.

In Nigeria, the Gionee M6 Lite sells for N82,740 while the Infinix Hot S goes for N53,1000.

Conclusion – Infinix Hot S vs Gionee M6 Lite

It is not surprising to see that the Gionee M6 Lite is more expensive, the truth is that, it has better features than the Hot S despite the fact it is a downgraded version of M6. Without minding the cost, I will totally go for the Gionee M6 Lite.
