Land Rover Explore Review – Literally Holding A Land Rover In Your Hands

Well, the smartphone world keeps hitting us with surprises that we welcome with open arms. The latest surprise is the Land Rover Explore released by British Car giant – Land Rover in conjunction with Bullitt Group, a company renowned in making rugged smartphones for technology giants such as Caterpillar and Kodak. The Land Rover Explore almost mistaken for the Land Rover Explorer automobile is a rugged smartphone on every front. From the design down to its internal parts and so on and so forth. Stay with me as the full specs and review of the Land Rover Explore smarphone makes it to your screens.

Design & Display

The rugged outlook of the smartphone is pretty interesting. The speaker grille at the base bezel looks like a car’s grille. At the top bezel, the earpiece and front camera are the occupants while the dedicated keys take the left side of the device. Just around the back, three vertical lines are seen and above these three vertical lines, the rear camera is seen as well as a dual-LED flash and the Land Rover emblem. Water resistance and dust resistance of the smartphone gives it the IP68 certification. Furthermore, the smartphone can survive up to 1.8 metres in water.

The smartphone has a 5.0-inch display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. This display is of the IPS LCD origin while the display colours hit the 16 million colors mark. Multi-touch input as well as 24 bit color depth are present on the display.

The rear camera has a 16 megapixel sensor that takes pictures and videos. This camera produces bright images in low light conditions as a result of the dual-LED flash present. The front camera on the other hand makes use of an 8 MP sensor for taking selfies. Features such as HDR, panorama, face detection, phase detection auto focus, touch focus, geo tagging and continuous shots are supported.

CPU, OS & Storage

MediaTek Helio X27 serves as the chipset of the smartphone. This chipset comes together with a 64-bit processor of ten cores that clocks at 2.6 GHz. ARM Mali GPU supplies the graphics on the smartphone while the software is the Android Nougat OS. The device multitasks with the aid of a 4 GB RAM in place while storage of files is taken care of by 64 GB ROM. This storage can also be expanded with the aid of a MicroSD card.

Land Rover Explore uses a non-removable Li-Ion 4,000 mAh battery as its powerhouse. Also, Bullitt Group made provision of an Adventure pack that comes with an extra 3,600 mAh battery as well as a Bike pack with handlebar mount and 4,370 mAh battery extra. This pack can only be added one at a time. The use of the first pack is when the user wants to go climbing while the second pack is when the user wants to go cycling.
