Nokia X71 Launched as Nokia’s first Triple camera and Punch-hole display-packing phone

Since the return of the Nokia brand in 2016 under the control of HMD Global Oy, the brand has risen tremendously over the years. Nokia’s Android phones have often given the competition a run for their money with the beautiful design they adopt. Nokia has also done well in the aspect of software, with its prompt and regular software updates. The company has just launched the Nokia X71 in Taiwan packing a number of new features.

Nokia X71 has been a regular in the rumor mills the past couple of days, and the interest has been huge, partly due to the hardware it is shown to pack. The device comes as Nokia’s first phone that would house three rear camera sensors. Make no mistake that isn’t the highest number of rear camera sensors you’ll find on a Nokia phone. The Nokia 9 PureView features a Penta-camera setup with an array of five sensors. The phone is also Nokia’s first phone with a punch-hole design on top of the display like the Samsung Galaxy A8s and Honor View 20 which houses the front camera.

As for the design and specifications, the Nokia X71 adopts a premium design of a diamond-cut aluminium frame wrapped with a 2.5D hyperboloid glass on the front and rear. The power button is located on the right side of the display. The power button comes with a multi-colored breathing light which glows when alerts like a new message or missed call hit the phone.

The Nokia X71 sports a 6.39-inch PureView Display with full HD+ resolution and an aspect ratio of 19.3:9. The phone has a dimension of 157.19 x 76.45 x 7.98, weighing in at 180 grams. The punch-hole design ensures the bezels are at their barest minimum, giving the phone an expansive 93 percent screen-to-body ratio. The display also supports 500nits of brightness and has a 1:1400 contrast ratio.

The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset which is a powerful mid-range chipset that was released in 2024. The processor pairs with 6GB of RAM while the phone packs 128GB of internal storage which can still be expanded via the microSD card slot. The phone gets its interface from the latest Android 9 Pie thanks to Android One.

On the camera end, the Nokia X71 has a 48MP ZEISS main sensor with f/1.8 aperture teaming up with a 5MP depth sensor and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens with a 120-degree FoV. There is also a dual-LED flash at the left side of the sensors. The front camera is a 16MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture. The X71 crams a 3500mAh battery under its hood with 18W fast charge support. Other features on the model include USB-C port, a rear fingerprint sensor, 3.5mm audio jack, dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, and OZO 360-degree surround sound technology.

HMD Global is expected to release the Nokia X71 globally under a different name, but for now, the model is up for reservation in Taiwan. It is expected to go on sale on April 10. The device comes with an 11,990 NTD (~$388) price tag. It is also available in just one color option of Eclipse Black.
