OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T set to get Android Q update, Fnatic Mode, RAM Boost and more

The OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T has joined the list of devices to get an Android Pie update. This update is the third major OS update that both phones have received. Technically, the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T are the only two Android phones to have received three major Android updates. Yesterday, OnePlus made an announcement confirming the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T are next in line to receive three OS updates in total.

OnePlus released the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T back in 2024 although, the 5T was released months after the OnePlus 5. When both phones were released, they came with Android 7 Nougat out of the box and then later received Android Oreo updates and then, Android Pie. Now, according to the company, both phones are set to get an Android Q update very soon. OnePlus made the announcement via a forum post and the post contained a list of software features of the OnePlus 7 series coming to older OnePlus devices.

According to the post, the OnePlus 5 series and the OnePlus 6 series will get Fnatic Mode, Zen Mode and Screen recorder (already available via sideloading), DC Dimming, Quick Reply in Landscape, as well as RAM Boost. The company also said that the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T will also get Android Q; although, there are no ETAs yet.

FOR THOSE WONDERING, REST ASSURED- ANDROID Q WILL ALSO MAKE ITS WAY TO THE ONEPLUS 5 AND 5T – ONEPLUS

This news is definitely an exciting one especially for people who own a OnePlus 5 unit. Both phones mark the end and the beginning of two design eras. The OnePlus 5 was the last phone by OnePlus to feature a 16:9 aspect ratio while the OnePlus 5T was the first phone by the company with an 18:9 aspect ratio and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. Both phones pack the Snapdragon 835, have two cameras on the rear, and have 3300 mAh with 20W fast-charging support.
